Has the final location been decided yet, cause if not I vote for the Pink Door. It is located in the Pike Place Market, has a great view from the porch. Good food, and isn’t a chain that you could hit up in just about any state.

I'm new as well and this sounds really freakin' awesome. And since I am a PAX neophyte (and seeing as how I didn't see it anywhere here, or I completely missed it), is anyone who is attending PAX able to go to said pre-dinner? I've got three friends and myself heading out there and this seems like it'd be a helluva lot of fun. Plus, after reading some of these posts, I'd love to meet some of you folks. Just so I can weasel my way into some afterparties.

    I mean... Wait... What?

If you are looking for 24 hour dining there are only 2 options worth looking at in Seattle.

    Under $20 a person - Beth's (already mentioned)
    Over $20 a person - 13 coins

anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I can't imagine the dinner ever being at 13 coins... Filet Mignon for everybody? Not going to happen.

Astayonix is currently working out the details with P.F. Chang's in Westlake. There's still planning to do regarding crowd control, but I'm bothering her to start the official information/headcount post. She's really tired though, on account of being in the last two months of pregnancy.

Again to all those posting about coming: remember to post again in the official headcount when it's up.

Also as a heads-up: we are currently considering requiring people to bring/show/wear their badges to make it easier for the restaurant staff to distinguish between discounted and non-discounted meals. This would occur if we start the dinner earlier (closer to the time it started last year), as the restaurant would not be made exclusive for us with an earlier start time.

For the record, there is no cuisine I hate more than Mexican food, so last year really sucked for me. You can't please all of the people all of the time and all that.

With all the great local restaurants in the downtown Seattle area it really seems a shame to eat at a Chinese chain restaurant, that you could go to in any city. I vote once again to move this to a local establishment, preferably one around the market, so that those coming from out of town will get a better idea of how great of a city we truly have. Plus since most attendees will be eating convention food for the next few days we should start off with something really yummy.

    Here are some ideas:
The Pink Door: http://www.thepinkdoor.net great porch, and they often have live music playing as well.

    Café Campagne: http://www.campagnerestaurant.com/cafe_home.html

Il Bistro: http://www.ilbistro.net/index.html A touch on the fancy side but the prices aren’t too extravagant

If none of these look good too you try searching on http://www.thestranger.com or seattle weekly’s website.

But please lets show our guests something they can't get in their hometown.

There is this really nice place called Kai's down in the U District, but it's too small.

I too share a dislike of chain restaurants, but that's not the point. We need a place that is large (seating in excess of 120-150), willing to work with us and give discounts, and within walking distance of the convention center. If you want to take the time to set up some a different event someplace else, that's your prerogative. Hell, a little competition would actually put my mind at ease, because I'm worried we're going to double or better our attendance from last year and not be able to handle it.

In any case, Astayonix and myself are closing the deal with P.F. Changs this year. We are not considering any other suggestions this year because we have already done an extensive process of preselection and elimination based on criteria that are better understood from an organizational perspective than one of personal taste.

(And it's not like we don't know what we're doing, we were both born in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, hell I'm 3rd generation. We simply have to prioritize organizational aspects first.)

Although P.F. Changs ain't exactly the epitome of Chinese cuisine, it would be convinient. But, this dinner isn't for the food, it's for the people!
