Pre Pax Dinner [not a headcount]
Posts
I mean... Wait... What?
Under $20 a person - Beth's (already mentioned)
Over $20 a person - 13 coins
anyone else know what I'm talking about?
Astayonix is currently working out the details with P.F. Chang's in Westlake. There's still planning to do regarding crowd control, but I'm bothering her to start the official information/headcount post. She's really tired though, on account of being in the last two months of pregnancy.
Again to all those posting about coming: remember to post again in the official headcount when it's up.
Also as a heads-up: we are currently considering requiring people to bring/show/wear their badges to make it easier for the restaurant staff to distinguish between discounted and non-discounted meals. This would occur if we start the dinner earlier (closer to the time it started last year), as the restaurant would not be made exclusive for us with an earlier start time.
{Fondly remembers the PAXTrain}
Here are some ideas:
The Pink Door: http://www.thepinkdoor.net great porch, and they often have live music playing as well.
Café Campagne: http://www.campagnerestaurant.com/cafe_home.html
Il Bistro: http://www.ilbistro.net/index.html A touch on the fancy side but the prices aren’t too extravagant
If none of these look good too you try searching on http://www.thestranger.com or seattle weekly’s website.
But please lets show our guests something they can't get in their hometown.
I too share a dislike of chain restaurants, but that's not the point. We need a place that is large (seating in excess of 120-150), willing to work with us and give discounts, and within walking distance of the convention center. If you want to take the time to set up some a different event someplace else, that's your prerogative. Hell, a little competition would actually put my mind at ease, because I'm worried we're going to double or better our attendance from last year and not be able to handle it.
In any case, Astayonix and myself are closing the deal with P.F. Changs this year. We are not considering any other suggestions this year because we have already done an extensive process of preselection and elimination based on criteria that are better understood from an organizational perspective than one of personal taste.
(And it's not like we don't know what we're doing, we were both born in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, hell I'm 3rd generation. We simply have to prioritize organizational aspects first.)
Remind me to buy you something... Or give a toast in your honor.
