Thread suggestion: general games thread, analogous to movies thread

Not sure if this is the right place for thread suggestions,* but since I've goosed this up before I want to ask before I jump in and do something stupid.
As a big fan of the movies megathread and its general format, I was wondering if it would be okay to try and start a similar thread on games. My reasoning is that while the big current games tend to have threads dedicated to them, it's more difficult to find good conversation about stuff that we're playing from our backlogs, where someone can mention they're currently playing old game X and someone else can suggest that Y is quite similar in terms of tone or style. Basically a place where we can talk about games as a medium and art form in general without being bound to one specific genre, producer, system or distribution platform.
I know that there were concerns that speak against having a general TV thread, and those concerns may also apply to a games megathread. Still, is such a thread something the admin and mods would be willing to consider?
*I haven't found any other likely place, and it is a user issue of sorts, unless you guys mean 'issue' in the sense of 'problem'. In which case posting this here may well be an issue. :P
