How exactly do you stop storm besides watching it brick itself?
Aegis of the Gods, believe it or not. By the time it's on the field they don't have time to kill you, and then sideboarding is a nightmare for them, assuming they even won game 1.
I liked the one list from Pittsburgh. It was more like I'm gonna beat the hell out of you with prime time and you know what screw it take some valakut!

The three main ways are permanent based hate (Gaddock Teeg, Ethersworn Cannonist, Eidolon of the Great Revel, etc), counter magic (everything blue but especially countertop), and hand disruption. The main thing is you need a clock to go along with your disruption; if you just just play hate pieces then storm has time to sculpt the perfect hand and find answers. It's why sultai delver generally does so well against storm; they have hand disruption plus counter magic plus big dumb creatures that kill you dead fast.
I actually kind of want to put a valakut into my daretti edh deck just because mono red fun. Free burn in a deck that really like welding solemn simulacrum and burnished hearts repeatedly

You should! There's really no reason not to.
I think when I made that comment about "we'll see who turns into a monster over edh in my playgroup" I was just preparing my heart to accept that it's going to be me
People want to know what kind of Magic stuff to get me for Christmas. Since I'm not going to task them with getting me Singles, I'm thinking of asking for one of the new Commander Precons - in case I get into the format or to play around at shops before events.
Which should I get? I really have no idea how to evaluate them

I'd say the two that take away as the best are BG and GU, with RU being a close second. The RW deck is fine, having some really sweet individual cards in it, but the BW one is kind of a mess.
They're all good, though, really. The BW one is just trying to do two different things at once and kind of only half-succeeds at both, where the other decks are all only trying to do one thing and do it well.
adding a single valakut to a daretti edh deck is a million miles away from being a monster in edh
talk to me when you're playing with deadeye navigator
No I know... But I can feel the siren song. It's the whispers in the wind telling me that darksteel forge and nevinryal's disk belong together with an unwinding clock and maybe even a mycosynth lattice for good measure.
It's gonna get bad before it gets better is my fear

My Kurkesh deck runs Contagion Engine with Scepter of the Magistrate. Those three cards in combination equals a lot of "what the fuck?" from people, so I try not to do it very often.
Now, Kurkesh + Contagion Engine + Clock of Omens + Lux Cannon? I rub my hands together like some kind of Bond villain as nobody feels like ever attacking me again. And then someone plays a Wave of Vitriol and all I want to do is crawl inside my own ass and die.

It also depends on if you want to use it mostly as-is or modify it (or just get it for the cards). The BW one's commander seems fantastic, just not the deck as-is.
I got to play with/against all of them a couple of weekends ago. The GU one was surprisingly good and the RW wrecked face. I wasn't thrilled with the others - the RU one (like the BW one) doesn't seem to really take full advantage of the default commander. The GB one - my personal favorite - also had problems but that may have just been a bad draw.
My suggestion is to pick which colors you like or which commander you want and run with that one. They are all decent bases to build from.
Or, because I know you like mill, go RU and build a deck with Arjun and Sphinx's Tutelage.

I love me some mono-green Twin.
I should put those two cards back into Karametra... hmm.
there will be an artbook for shadows over innistrad, much as there was for BFZ
I was hoping they'd team up with the D&D team and make campaign settings, but I knew that wasn't going to happen.
That's probably what they should do, if they are otherwise just going to sit on D&D.
2 setting books a year with setting info and a mini-campaign based around the events from the block, re-use art from the cards could save on costs.
5th edition would let it be fluff-heavy, so it could sell to Magic players who otherwise don't have much interest in D&D.
Ah well, the art books are pretty cool on their own.
Stopping everyone else from having fun can be very fun.
