So, I went and watched Man on Fire, since I'd kinda heard some good things about it, and I'd also heard it compared to max payne 3, which I kinda liked, and wow. That movie was a huge wet pile of nothing. I mean, I guess it was stylish, but it didn't really have much else going for it.
I know some today are also really put off by Paulie in Rocky 1 but I thought he was a realistic character. Super flawed, a dickhead, but he seemed like a real person.

yes hi, it me, the guy who also did not care about Man on Fire
is this the original "take off the glasses and the nerd is shockingly hot" scene?
No idea, but Rocky III is the origin of Mr. T saying "I pity the fool."
Yep, Sylvester Stallone wrote Mr. T's catch-phrase (though he apparently based it on an interview he saw where Mr. T was talking about his opponent in a competition and said something like "I just feel sorry for him. I feel real sorry" and adapted it).
Also, Mr. T never actually said it at any point on the A-Team.
@YaYa Honestly, you're good to see Creed without seeing any of the Rocky movies, but 1-3 and passing knowledge of IV would be good if you were set on getting the full Rocky/Creed relationship

I still don't really understand what kind of book Dark Tower is
I thought it was a western but apparently it has all sorts of sci-fi shit in it?
In the sixth book there are evil robots dressed like Doctor Doom on robot horses with lightsabers who throw snitches like from Harry Potter that explode peoples heads like those balls from Phantasm
Drawing of the Three takes place almost fully one half "in the real world," so you figure that would be easy enough. Then again, they are period pieces...

It's a western set in the post-apocalypse of a parallel version of earth
Some of the advanced tech of the dead civilization is still around, but it coexists with a lot of full-on magic as well

yeah, that part of the movie has aged poorly
I wish
You had
More time.
He's so bad it's kind of hilarious
yes hi, it me, the guy who also did not care about Man on Fire
I think if he wasn't there the Adrian stuff would seem worse somehow.
I mean
by comparison
I had wondered the same thing!
Do you have a Twitter account you can take this to?

sorry
am I good to see Creed now or should I see Rocky II first
You should probably see up through Rocky 4, since that completes the arc of the relationship between Rocky and Apollo
this is a real intriguing choice but man, I am not sure if that series can work as a movie franchise
well
shoot
The first book has nearly no dialogue and concludes with him killing everyone in the entire town
its gonna be a tough sell
I don't think that's necessarily what makes it a tough sell. I think the first one is honestly the easiest to adapt

Oh man, Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors. Since Clint Eastwood is impossible, totally go with Idris.

Throughout the series, it kind of hits a lot of the major setting archetypes.
In the sixth book there are evil robots dressed like Doctor Doom on robot horses with lightsabers who throw snitches like from Harry Potter that explode peoples heads like those balls from Phantasm
just go see Creed
it's King's giant meta narrative in which it is basically every story
so its a mish mash of all genres

Rocky Balboa is the 6th movie
Rocky V is Rocky V and no one should see it because it's fucking awful
