TV recommendations!

I live in a largish house, and am looking into moving my beloved 50" Panasonic plasma to the bedroom and getting a new tv for the living room. I'm basically targeting 60-65" and $1500 or less. I'm also devastated that I can't buy a new plasma anymore. I've been to several family and friends houses with much larger tvs than my ST50, but the picture quality on my plasma is just staggeringly better than any LCD I've seen, barring something costing double my budget.

Couple questions:

Am I better off resigning myself to a new LED, or would I be better off buying a lightly used plasma? Looking for best picture quality for the dollar here. 4k isn't a factor to me right now, since content is so scarce.

Alternatively, what are the odds of OLEDs finally being feasible in a year or two? This is definitely a want purchase and not a need, so I could wait.

I mean, tech always comes down in price, so in a year or two OLED will likely become even more affordable.

We were devastated that we couldn't get a new Panasonic Plasma, too. We got an LG plasma and had the panel replaced on it due to burn in after less than a year. Then we replaced the TV three months later for burn in. It was garbage. Now we're using a 4k Bravia, which is really nice. Granted the 4k content isn't really there, but we've been impressed with the picture quality on this set. Also, it's an Android set, so any app that's available on Android is available for it as far as Smart TV stuff goes - Netflix, Hulu, and the regulars, but also HBO Now and the like.

mRahmani we have a hidden little cove of TV advice over here. That thread is full of people who know ridiculous amounts about this sort of thing. You may get a better answer over there.

Having just bought, my hot take:
    1. OLED is amazing
    2. OLED is still REALLY EXPENSIVE (comparatively)
    3. Just buy a Vizio M series now for cheap and upgrade once OLED becomes affordable

If you're looking for amazing image quality at that size, you're going to pay for it. The difference between OLED and LED is not even a contest (IMO), but neither is the price difference.

    55 inch flat 4k OLED - 3k or so
    55 inch M series - 800-850
    65 inch M series - 1500

Do a search about Vizio and screen capturing/spying.

Basically the TVs are sending screenshots of everything that's displayed; discs, TV, Roku, etc. every few seconds.

It's also really easy to turn off, IE - takes 5 seconds.

Yes, for the money this is the best TV you can buy. There's not a significant advantage unless you're willing to at least double your budget. I've owned Vizios forever, currently an M-series 55" and it's great.
