City of Montgomery has passed an ordinance allowing Uber.
Uber is expected to submit the application for their business permit before the next city council meeting.
The ordinance passed with some ammendments
1) Rate Caps On Taxis and Uber will be removed
2) Due to turnover rate, Uber drivers will have 15 days, instead of the standard 30, to have a vehicle inspection
3) Uber will be allowed to use their current background check service instead of the fingerprinting required for cab operators.

(then sent me a confirmation email that mentioned me being scheduled for something i had already done so i wanted to make sure they weren't all screwed up on their end)

Yeah being on hold for actual doctor's offices is weird, because USUALLY they are reasonable and you aren't forgotten, but you can be, but also you're gambling because they can just end up with terrible patients calling that take forever to talk to for whatever reason.

This surprised me, actually. I know Asians aren't like, the most represented ethnicity in the US, but growing up like 80% of my friends were and 100% played games, so I kind of half think of gaming as an Asian thing.
There was a lady runner in the L4D2 run! She's the only one I've seen, though.
There have been a number on the couch, and at least one announcer.
There's a Mexican runner called, appropriately, TheMexicanRunner, who did a Lion King run earlier, and is doing a Battletoads run later today.
To nobody's surprise, though, the white dude contingent is still pretty dominant.

1. it is on Twitch, and Twitch is a misogynistic cesspool
2. speedrunning probably requires a fairly high level of participation in the speedrunning community (because you probably aren't normally just speedrunning to beet your own PR, I bet), including, I'd imagine, posting videos/streaming yourself playing games to prove that you did it (and thus revealing your gender), leading to A. hostility from the existing male community and audience and B. self-imposed barrier to entry by people not wanting to be the only girl
3. the usual about women (generally, largely, ymmv obviously) not being raised to value competition and as such not wanting to speedrun
