We’re a week out from PAX South and this question usually comes up, so I’ve updated the What To Pack section of the PAX South Guide. It now includes a PDF packing list for my fellow organizational nerds.
I just want to add that the convention center itself can get really, really cold. They really blast the AC during large events, especially in the exhibit halls (where the Expo Hall will be.) It's usually not terrible if you're moving around constantly, but if you are standing or sitting in one spot (as an exhibitor or sitting in an exhibitor booth for a demo, or if you're queuing for something) and you end up under an AC vent, chances are good you may freeze. In the middle of August at an event I vended at in the convention center, my husband and I had to take turns walking outside in the sun when our booth wasn't too busy to warm up.
We usually bring one backpack for the whole family and stuff flyers, cards, swag in there.
I always bring:
Good Lanyard & plastic badge holder sleeve (good for stuffing cards or tickets or whatever behind your badge)
USB power bank - USB to Lightning & USB to 3DS cables.
Small dice bag or box w/ 1 set of dice.
1 small card or dice game for playing in line. (Zombie Dice, Cthulhu Dice, We Didn't Playtest This at All, Exploding Kittens)
3DS XL, and a couple of games.
iPhone I now mainly rely on this camera instead of bringing one to PAX. Occasionally I'll bring a GoPro.
Energy Bars (Cliff bars hold up well)
Powdered drink mix packets (convention soda is overpriced and leaves you all blah feeling, we refill water bottles with these)
Small Hand Sanitizer
For those of you that normally carry, it is not allowed at PAX. The posted weapons policy only addresses (addressed? I haven't looked since) props and I ended up having to call Reed to get a final answer.
Keep in mind that means if you carry to town, you will need to trust either a hotel safe or your car.
I would appreciate that you keep your guide to one thread. It's a cool guide, but we don't need a bunch of threads about it. Having a general "what to pack at pax" thread is fine, and you can use that to update your guide, but as you update your guide, post those updates in one place.

Geth, close this thread.
