the injustice comic is very good and I hope that guy gets to write something he really cares about
he's currently writing All-New Wolverine, which is fantastic
he also just did a three issue arc on Batman/Superman that was really good
Good for him!
I know people were caught up on what superman does to go bad in the injustice game but its actually pretty well written and GOOD superman's speech to bad superman in that thing is great
Weirdly, Injustice is a great rebuttal to what BvS wants superheroes to be
Harley Quinn gets the full movie makeover in comics today, with the individually dyed pigtails and jacket and booty shorts
Which
Hey fine Marvel does that shit all the time
But she goes "Oh I love it! It's so...cinematic."
Uggggh
Deadpool could get away with a line like that, although that's still pretty badly written no matter who's saying it. But as much as DC wants Harley to be their Deadpool, she's no Deadpool.
I take crap for this, but I actually really like that DC is shifting Harley into a less serious Deadpool-style character and I've liked the current series (although I'm a bit behind in my reading).
It's kind of a lame line, but truthfully it feels like DC has been successful flipping Harley into their Deadpool. The merchandising of her character has been crazy and they've even managed to get her into their kid's Superhero High line. And somehow (Joker aside) Suicide Squad looks like a better movie than one with Batman and Superman in it.
In a world where Batman keeps getting darker and darker and less for me, I like that a major character in that universe is still lighter and more fun. I understand that some (much) of the humor is juvenile - but the comic is super colorful and pretty and I'd much rather read that than face torn off Joker.

oh this line is not that bad
like it's not particularly funny and it's entirely obvious, but it's also just so... entirely inoffensive

Nah. Like even family guy has clever dialogue now and then. This is Fuller House level writing
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
I am totally fine with Harley Quinn becoming her own character and shifting more towards the goofy and comedic, on paper that is a decision I am completely okay with
But the comic isn't good or funny at all, in my opinion of course, so it all falls flat. Plus her randomly becoming a 4th wall breaking character is super jarring.
I also kind of hate how she is presented as this gleeful mass murderer who will murder a bunch of women at a charity auction to get a date with Bruce Wayne or chop up an airport worker and put her in a suitcase because she was rude to her. Deadpool also kills people but has a surprising amount of depth in that regards and hates both himself for doing it and that others see him as good for nothing but killing when he wants to be more. In contrast Harley wants to be more "heroic" but all that means is she gleefully kills people who she thinks are bad and that's about the only difference.

Yeah, Deadpool's mined entire emotional arcs out of the conflict between his wanting to be a "good guy" and his tendency to resort to violence and murder in response to difficult situations (because doing the wrong thing is easier than doing the right one). It's why his character works.

I don't think any comic has had breaking the fourth wall be half as a clever as the writer thinks it is.
The occasional comic cover that makes fun of how what they show on the cover never happens in the book is, I think, exactly as clever as it intends to be.
it'll be a cold day in hell before i ever like a youtube film review
I suddenly want us to force Rorshach to make a youtube review series reviewing other Youtube film reviews.
I can make this happen.
I just need a box, some string, and some coors light tallboys.
Olde English.
It would be Olde English, not Coors Light.
Not if I'm buying
Pssh...
Half-measures
Full-measures would be a waste of all of our skills and resources.
Also they don't have Olde English at the gas station on my street. And I'm not going further than that for beer for other people.
The gas station...you people live like lunatic barbarian kings, I have to buy my booze from something called the Nova Scotia Liqour Commission, I buy it from the government because I have to
until about... 2 years ago, Pennsylvania had the same thing. State liquor stores. When I went to MA and found out you could buy beer at the goddamn 7/11 it blew my mind.
And then I asked where were the drive thru beer distributors. And found out that you had to get out of your car to buy beer if you were in a hurry.

An advantage Deadpool had is that he got good arcs before he went full goofy. He had a thing to return to. The recent run by Psehn and Duggan was basically a return to Kelly form, but modernized, after the reduction of the character to a quip-spouting psycho by Daniel Way. He had a thing to return to.

Man just had a 6-way conversation at the office, all of us geeks to some degree, and man we certainly are a sample.
One guy laughing at how terrible this all is and wistful that there's never gonna be another DC film as good as Dark Knight
One guy who actually liked the Zack Snyder early stuff up to Watchmen and even liked Sucker Punch but hated Man of Steel and feels vindicated by this
One guy who actually liked Man of Steel and will see this anyway because at least shit is gonna blow up good
One guy whose favorite movie of all time is Amazing Spider-Man 2 and feels down on BvS
One guy who's all grumbly and was really looking forward to BvS and refuses to admit it's gonna be terrible and still has that flame
and me who's basically just excited at how terrible it is and kinda want to see it just out of schadenfreude now

That's also the series that had a Wonder Woman illustration so bad that I ran a competition based on it in the AC.

Apparently as a completely new assistant character.
But there is no amount of good casting this show could do to offset the fact that Max Landis is in charge of it.
