So, I want a cool coffee mug. I want a mug that says something neat, looks uniqueish, without making me look like a huge geek (like a 20 sided die shaped mug) or just a rehash reprint of a standard franchise.
I saw at a comic con one i would have gotten, it was a bit oversized (which i would prefer without going massive beer stein sized) and shaped like a cauldron, but it had the harry potter logo in large letters...I like the series but not willing to super advertise my geek like that.
I've looked around online, but havent found anything great. Whats the coolest mug youve seen, or do you know something like a T-fury/woot shirt site that has neat mugs?

That heart and lego one are cool.
A whole bunch of cool mugs, some super geek, others not so geek.
I happen to prefer tervis tumbler stuff, including mugs. They have a good hand feel and are insulated.

Because the Stein of Science is definitely the coolest "mug" I've seen, figuratively and literally since they are converted dewar flasks normally used to store liquid nitrogen. The smallest is 350ml even though they are pretty chunky (more rotund than a 12oz can and slightly shorter than a Mexi-Coke at that size).
They are also pretty fucking expensive which will almost certainly turn you off on them, but the cool factor is there for me.

This has been my favorite work-mug for the past 4 or 5 years. When I started my new job, it instantly started conversations with the other 2 people who play video games, while not screaming "I AM A HUGE GEEK, STEREOTYPE ME AS SUCH" to everyone else.
Only catch is the colors seem to be limited edition. The particular color I picked up for myself (376) appears to be discontinued.

If you are unsure of the profanity, the black on black Don't Fucking Procrastinate mug has been on my desk for ages and no one has noticed. Its discreet but its a nice reminder to myself.
What exactly am I missing about these ugly mugs that make them worth hundreds of dollars?
I have this one, which is a:a comfy mug to drink out of, and b:is low-key enough to not be obvious, but still has more going on than first meets the eye.
You put a cold beer in it.
Hours later
It's still cold
I personally use this mug at work. Still Harry Potter, but more subtle if people don't know the franchise: https://wanelo.com/p/31355885/wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-slytherin-sculpted-ceramic-stein-mug-universal

or you could get a Iittala Origo mug, there are different color versions.

Pretty art, also circle mountain is best mountain.
Pro: can also be used as a travel mug.
Con: might be slightly too geeky for you.

Neat idea..not really practical for an office mug tho.
Lots of times those neat color change mugs aren't microwave safe, sometimes not even dishwasher safe. Be sure to check before you buy if you plan on using either.
Etsy (or a local ceramics show/store) is going to get you something far more unique. For example:

Until you go to other countries.
Note the Washington DC one on the right in contrast. I won't be buying any other states any time soon.
Four of those mugs are South Korea. I speculate other countries and regions get various artists, and currently one (mediocre) artist is doing all fifty states.
I liked the ones from a few years ago, I think they were called reliefs or something, but they had a sculpture feel to it. Here's the New York one of what i'm talking about
(if you don't like finishing your drinks)
Ah, one of these?

Seoul has one of those.
To that effect, I got a 30oz Yeti tumbler for my birthday which is pretty cool. Or hot. Depending on what you put in it.
Granted, it's not overtly geeky. But it's big, hefty and can hold a considerable quantity of beverage and maintain temperature. And it's brushed steel, which looks cool.
Cause snusmumriken is freaking awesome.
Its like the dinosaur one, only with beach swimmers that have sharks appear around them. Was an off color office gift for a white elephant exchange that I find really amusing still.
