In which Dyslexci and the shacktac fellahs go all D-Day. Parachute night assault. Limited maps, no radios, drop locations randomly scattered. Their mission: re-group, seize a town and its AA guns, then last until the morning with no reinforcement.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
you can see how, since goku and his son are finally spending time together, gohan is finally starting to learn some unexpected things about his father, make some connections about himself as a result, actually earn some closer respect for him
it's crazy that this is all coming from a fan dub
a very long running, very high quality fan dub, but still

The dialogue is also shockingly snappy
"I'm impressed! Behind all that angst and ridiculous hair is an actual fighter!"
"And behind all of that insufferable smarm is a dead man."
"Trunks....you couldn't fathom how many dead men are behind me."
I've never watched, nor plan to watch, DBZ. Should I watch DBZA anyway?
As someone who has never watched DBZ, yeah, you should.

I think the most incredible thing about DBZA is that no, really, it is telling the same story with many of the same beats.
Like I find myself constantly double checking things on the DragonBall wiki and am shocked at how close things really are. These are people who love the original work.. so much so that they've helped with actual Dragonball product!
And now that they have their patreon so they can continue to give away DBZA for free without starving to death, the quality is only getting better.
-- Should also note that they are a prime example of the fair use issues out there. Any DBZA you see with an ad on it has had content ID flagged against it. They see none of that revenue.

yes, with the caveat of skipping until the sayians arrive on earth
I thought the Bug Planet episode (5) was a pretty decent place to start.
I will mention that watching that episode on YouTube is.. weird. They used an unedited version of "Memories" at one point and were served with a takedown notice, so they just removed it whole cloth.
It's also worth noting that the entire team was/is excited to get to this point in the Cell saga.. like, they've talked in the past how excited they are to do this bit, so I'm sure they've had stuff formulated for it for a while.
What were some of the jokes that probably weren't very well aged at the time and have gotten worse? I assume the main one was
Dodoria
I noticed a lot of pretty cringy gay jokes that I'm sure they regret with hindsight, and along that vein is all the gender shit with Dodoria and Zargon.

Sounds about right.
Those aside, I think the entire latter half of the Freeza saga is my favourite.

Zarbon's kind of surrounded by loads of innuendo throughout season 2, yeah.
However, there's a bit I love late into the season where
Zarbon casually mentions his girlfriend and Freeza starts to express surprise, then awkwardly tap dances around admitting that he thought Zarbon was gay.

Blowing up a subordinate is always a good way to dodge that conversation.
(The title's a bit misleading as this is a one-off, it's about how writing developed in Sumer specifically, rather than everything about writing in all of history)

Have they mentioned about whether they have changed plans, or are they still stopping before Buu?

I love Team Four Star but they still have some troublesome humour from time to time. As recently as the Android Saga they did a bait-and-switch where they used a Trans slur, but in reference to a vehicle's transmission.

I am not trans, so take my saying this with a grain of salt, but I didn't find that particular joke offensive - it was more a play on 16's naivete, and he corrected himself later without 17 or 18 acknowledging it. The term you are referring to is very, very common to be used to refer to the transmission around here.
Edit: Now the homophobic jokes is another matter. Cell in particular, but he's meant to be creepy and a smug asshole.

The joke is still "haha, you thought we said a slur but we actually didn't!"
Which is...not great.
Like, in order to work it relies on you first assuming the word is being used for shitty reasons.

I brought that up a long time ago and folks told me back then they had decided to keep going till the end of DBZ.

Good shit!
It takes something that was, listen, fine
And makes it funnier, more touching, and better written
Minus some of the gross stuff from the early era I literally could not have more respect for those guys
The early ones are a bit rough and they have some jokes that they would not make now.

I thought the episode where Vegeta and Nappa stop by the Bug Planet (ep 5) was a pretty decent place to start.
I did this very mission in real life as a training and rumored AA in real life to the same results

That does really kill the joke, huh.
It's otherwise a solid ep, though.

I wish there was a game like CK2 or Stellaris about Bronze age societies.
Serious Jibber Jabber with Conan and famed Beatles biographer Mark Lewisohn
James May puts a lawnmower back together. Also some baller knolling.
That's really good and also led me to this:
