Toukiden Kiwami did get my attention since it's on Steam, but I also hear it's a terrible port so haven't bit the bullet on it.
Really I guess I don't want a Monster Hunter clone but more something that does its own thing gameplay wise but with the same kinds of themes. Maybe that's too niche for companies to attempt.
I actually did import the regular substitute plush before it was added there though.. and maybe I'll grab some Dittos or Eevees? Argh my poor Canadian dollars (I don't even think it ships easily to Canada, blerg)
I.... I kinda love that big stupid Wii U gamepad and I don't know why
Because it doesn't actually matter that there is space between your hands
Its a great controller
The wii remote + nunchuck is really underrated as a controller. I really liked the split design and hoped more companies would use it. It's really comfortable!

Toukiden is Monster hunter if it was made by the dynasty warrior guys
This is actually a positive for me and one big reason why I was keeping my eye on it.
The problem with toukiden is that it's impressively slow considering how fast everything moves.
Also any feel of weight in the combat is pretty much gone.
Also also their version of difficulty is definitely more about adding a *100 to the enemy health formula than any actual challenge.
Also*3 the game has a lot of really cheap stunlocking for both you and the monsters so after a while you'll probably just end up gauntlet spamming enemies to death because you can keep them stunned forever.
Basically if you want monster hunter with a more arcade feel without the deliberate combat: Get God Eater. It's coming to PC and such soon. Lots of jumping and air dashing and wailing on things. Healing is incredibly forgiving till much later. Fights can be done mostly very fast.

Why they didnt bring back the jaggis is beyond me
I really want them to add a Pokémon that looks like the substitute doll.

i hear it's awful!
I haven't heard anything one way or the other.
Steam: pazython
This usually leads to the action feeling kind of sloppy to some extent to me
Isn't the pokemon substitute doll just a stylized Rhydon?
Huh. That's a shame. Thought it could be neat (I'm a sucker for co-op). I'll still give it a shot (hey, it's free, so what's the harm?).

Is it? I just want a little green guy.
I want Monster Hunter Pokémon!
I loooove how the Substitute with the Ditto is just another Ditto

Bulbasaur is #1, and no popularity contest can take that away.
Why I fear the ocean.
Later on it was a green dude
So you're both right
...i guess importing is an option
I want the Gengar ditto but then the last set was a must have as well

Zygarde is in that new movie where it turns into a giant robot or something.

I thought it was a Kangaskhan cub.
Actually Rhydon is #1. First Pokemon created, first Pokemon in the data registry.
I am really interested to see why God's Eater will play like with two sticks
Also I have played a good chunk of all of these save for RO and toukiden is easily the best of them, even if I'm partial to how stupid freedom wars is

The opening cinematic for Crystal Chronicles remains one of my favorite video game things from the gamecube era.
The cutscene in FF9 with Melodies of Life still gets me even though they look like weird cartoon people now

but then I'm like, eh, I think I actually prefer these games on a handheld, despite the sometimes awkwardness of controls
Having jumped through the hoops to try frontier: I know I do.
