Obama did not do much preparation and paud the price.

According to the Keeping it 1600 podcast Obama did a lot of prep, but he figured he'd be debating the distant, severely conservative Mitt Romney that had been out and about during the GOP Primary, but then Romney opened with a joke and jumped straight to the center at the speed of sound and totally threw Obama off kilter. After the first ten minutes, the winner was decided and there was nothing Obama could do.

If the Commander and Chief town hall hadn't happened I'd be confident now. That was so insanely slanted that I'm now very nervous. Donald Trump doesn't belong on the same stage as Hillary Clinton. Most of the media knows this and too many of them compensate for that fact. And in front of 100,000,000 people that matters

I kind of wonder what type(s) of "Trump" Clinton has been practicing against. Trump is the most and least predictable candidate in recent memory.

I'm also not sure how much of his supposed lack of preparation is a feint. While he's temperamentally unsuited for serious debate prep based on what we know of his psychology, his campaign's loud and repeated insistence on his winging it seems like an obvious misdirection.

Basically we're running on Se7en rules. I have no idea what to expect here.

Trump is too arrogant to think his positions are wrong, that's the difference between him and Romney.

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Bill Kristol has pretty much never been right about something.

I mean, I think he's right about Clinton's attitude, she's always composed, always smart, always thoughtful. She's going to have cogent answers to whatever Holt throws at her.

I do think he's wrong that Clinton will win though. We all know the bar is so low for Trump that he's basically already won short of taking a dump on stage and storming out.

I think we'll probably hear a lot of bullshit about how great Trump was from the talking heads but after a day or so people are going to realize that Clinton was better in every way.

Journalists must fork over $200 for wifi at presidential debate.
News organizations attending Monday evening’s presidential debate must pay $200 for a “Secure Wireless Internet Connection” at Hofstra University in New York state. The debate is set to begin at 9pm Eastern.

While profiteering during a high-profile occasion such as this is not unheard of—$15 for a patch cable?—what’s worse is that event staff at Hofstra University are reportedly using a $2,000 device to actively scan for hotspots and other ad-hoc Wi-Fi networks.

Politico reporter Kenneth Vogel, who posted a related photo, said on Twitter that journalists are essentially being given an ultimatum: use your own hotspot and get “tossed” from the debate site. (Of course, this problem can simply be solved via a Bluetooth or USB tether from an active smartphone to a laptop.)

Hofstra's action may be unlawful under an advisory published by the Federal Communications Commission in January 2015 which found that "willful or malicious interference with Wi-Fi hotspots is illegal."

As Ars reported previously, the FCC fined fined Marriott $600,000 in October 2014 for blocking customers’ personal Wi-Fi hotspots at a Nashville, Tennessee, branch. Although Marriott paid the fine, it remained defiant and filed a request for rulemaking with the commission, asking that Wi-Fi blocking be permitted. Marriott’s reasoning was that it could better manage the security of its own network if it blocked unauthorized Wi-Fi broadcasts.

Neither Hofstra University nor the FCC immediately responded to Ars’ request for comment.

UPDATE 8:29pm ET: Apparently the overpriced Wi-Fi is actually down, according to Wired editor Emily Dreyfus.

    Emphasis mine. :rotate:
