    They thought Homer was making up a son, and George still fell for it.

    I didn't know there was a George Bush Jr. when I first saw that episode, and though Homer had made it up. Which was pretty funny!

    I get the distinct feeling they had a bunch of gags and short scenes collected that they could never manage to fit into a normal episode and just went "fuck it, let's use 'em anyway".

    fun fact, when I was in 10th grade I was taking my AP World History exam, and the last essay question was about the Opium Wars or something, I was coming up completely blank on anything to write.

    So I wrote "Can't sleep, clown will eat me" twenty-five times.
    I got a 3, enough for college credit.

    "i'm seeing double, four krusties!" is the most perfect joke in the show's run

    also the background voices on the simpsons were always so great. "the finger thing means the taxes" is an obvious example, but my favorite is at the end of the monorail episode, when the people are going over the escalator to nowhere, the sounds they make as they go over the edge make me laugh so hard
