I read a bunch of the Westworld thread and man whenever there's a show with mysteries some people get all kinds of holier than thou and upset the show isn't just giving them everything. I fucking loved LOST and maintain that a shitload of people still don't understand the ending. Westworld is right up my alley so far with the mysteries and hints. ARGs are fun and you don't have to engage with them if you don't want to, so why do people get so bent out of shape when they exist as part of a show? Mysteries and hints and fan theories are fun!

The comparison to pasture raised and supermarket bulk eggs

oh yes!!! I knew this one, the eggs I buy are kinda somewhere in between. They're pretty decent eggs, Nellie's is the brand, sometimes they still have a feather on them. I don't buy the really local stuff usually because it's like $3 more expensive for 6 fewer eggs.

I'd recommend adding The Omnivores Dilemma to your reading list if you haven't. It changed our thinking a bit on what we pay for food and what's worth paying a bit (or more) more for.

ah, I've heard of that one, hm maybe I will

$7 for 12 eggs is pretty hard to swallow though, that's the same as a pound of air-chilled chicken breast meat from Whole Foods

Of course, and I'd never say you should or shouldn't spend whatever for..whatever. Personally, that book reframed our thinking a bit and I recommend it if you feel like digging into what we eat, why, how we get it, and what we do and don't pay for.

For us it changed a few things, but it's a good book regardless.

can you feel the struggle within?

last time I was in Boston I took a water taxi downtown from the airport and I thought that was pretty neat.

also I dipped into the one of the election threads in the chat interlude lull and now I need a hug. the plus side is that it got my dander up enough to get up and go for a run so I'm gonna do that. be well chat see you in a bit.

My life plan is that in 2.5 years I get a job at Lincoln Labs and my husband gets a job at MGH and then we try to save up for a $400 K 1 bedroom condo in Cambridge by Central Square/Area 4.

Maybe? It's a possible plan anyway.

So long as you're properly cooking the eggs and are careful about what raw eggs touch it isn't a huge issue. You should be doing the latter anyways and the first is really just like don't prepare steak tartar with them unless you really trust the farmer.

I think you're worrying too much.

In Trump's America you can eat whatever egg you want, from whatever animal. You just grab that animal right in the egg chute and you take her eggs. They just let you.

isn't the salmonella not in the raw egg, but on the shell? so just wash your egg before putting raw egg on stuff?

last night some of my coworkers and my boss took me out to dinner and then to fort collins for drinks. i got about as drunk as i've been in years- i mean, not trusting myself to stand up. i would not have begrudged any bartender for cutting me off. but we get to what is going to be the final bar of the night and one of my coworkers is so... stereotypically girly drunk. i mean, she is definitely hammered but it manifests almost how a high schooler would imagine drunkenness is. getting too close to everyone, super loud, the whole thing. white girl wasted. it was like a caricature. so the bouncer denied her entry. we went and got pizza and she sat there eating the pizza with tears streaming down her face, so thoroughly humiliated about getting barred- especially since it was a garbage dive bar that isn't prudent about IDs or anything. she then dropped her big, greasy 2am slice in her lap.

i have never sobered up so quickly in my life. the sympathetic embarrassment is still with me lel.

    fun night tho.

Everyone consumes media in different ways.

    It's okay.

Nowadays I think it is nigh impossible to watch a show or read a book series with mysteries that have the clues present in the material and remain unspoiled if you engage in the massive hivemind that is the Internet. We figure shit out. Good ideas float to the top.

I only read up to the episodes I've seen, 6 of 'em. I stopped when they started talking about episode 7. I've just seen a ton of people lamenting the mystery aspect as some dumb overblown thing which is very confusing to me. It just comes off as snooty to me a lot of the time.

Salmonella is in the raw egg if the chicken carries it

Washing eggs might offer some protection if your egg comes from a non salmonella carrying chicken that is nevertheless in close contact with chickens that do carry it
