looks a little silly that everything in the same row is moving in completely synchronicity, makes it obvious they're just copy pasting the same animation over and over.
animators! offset those walk cycles by a frame or two!

But it's supposed to be uniform. That's part of the conceit.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I will say this for the 40k games, they know how to make heavy things look and move like they're heavy.
That's not from a 40k game. It's from the Prologue to Lord Inquisitor, an unofficial 40k short made by Erasmus Brosdau (the full short is scheduled to release at some point this year). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZc6cr6G2E4

if it's too uniform they look like robots, rather than men in robot suits
If I did a few more passes at this I would vary the frames on the Imperial Guardsmen, move a few of them a tiny amount to the left or right, and add a hesitation to their step when the Dreadnoughts bring their foot down, but put the Space Marines in total lockstep. Really sell that otherworldly precision for these people who most onlookers doubt were ever human.

That looks really good for a fan project. 40k seems to have a lot of really impressive fan movies, especially in spite of the fact that almost all of them have been placed under exterminatus by GW's legal department.
I will say though, the mouth movement and lack of phonemes (how the mouth changes shape when talking) bugs me, but damn does that look impressive for a zero-budget fan project.

A college friend started working on this while we were still in school. That was 7 years ago at this point. The short is very pretty but the animation itself is lacking.

Yeah the animation in that is not super great...but I was thinking it was professionally produced!
For a fan-made thing it's really good.
While it's made in the off-time the guys doing it are professionals. Erasmus Brosdau for example has worked at Crytek (as an artist and Art Director) and now at Cloud Imperium Games.

I should say, everything other than the animations are AAA quality very good shit, to counterbalance my criticisms sent out into the void. The models and textures and environment and lighting are top notch to my eye.
And the animations in isolation are great, they just need to be varied a little tiny bit to avoid the tiling effect when copy-pasted en mass like that.

A thing I like about this is that it absolutely nails the physical differences between regular humans and the hulking monstrosities that are the Adeptus Astartes.

After reading Eisenhorn and Ravenholm. I don't like their Inquisitor. Dude feels he is red lining the heretic line.
But it did make me go and look up The Trials of Draigo made by Flashgitz, who apparently had to back up a lot of their archive on newgrounds because Youtube was constantly claiming sound in their material.

I agree in theory
But if anyone is approaching too many doggos, it's the person who has a doggo going unscritched
yeah I was thinking that is must be a full time job for one or two people to properly take care of that many dogs

especially the imperial guard and wizard hat people, they should look more like real troops parading.

Real troops parading often look fairly robotic!

Then nevermind!
Final verdict: It needs work.

Don't mess with the cyberdog.
This is some torment of Tantalus shit here.
