Iceman manipulates thermal energy. Cold is just the absence of heat. Theoretically, I'm pretty sure he could make things ultrahot too if he wanted. But he just sucks at using his powers.

Seriously though, I like his alternative to flying, and then in Ultimate X-Men, I like how he's a little more bad ass, and instead of just ice-armor it becomes almost an offensive covering with the spikes.

I do like iceman, even though he used to suck. Isn't he made of ice when he "ices up?" I remember right before onslaught, he got a hole punched in his chest and when he finally changed back, he was fine in human form (but his costume had a hole...O_o )
