if you worked five days a week you'd basically spend a day commuting every week
this is not reasonable imo
People commute from one end of Mass to the other. Lots of them! People commute from southern Connecticut to NYC! Nobody likes it but "yeah my commute is 2 hours" just gets you a nod and a shrug

Reasonability is subjective dude
"Need money" + "money is 2 hours away" = "drive/take train/bus for 2 hours each way every day" is like
Two dudes on this bus were talking loudly about how much they hate a local coffee place for having pictures of refugees displayed for a charity thing and also paying their employees $15 an hour
Also earlier they were talking about how the South should be a model for the rest of the country
Now they have moved onto excitedly anticipating weed legalization
AAAAAAAAAAAA
Yeah you'd be surprised how many pot heads don't get that if they get everything else they are looking for weed won't ever be legal.
sleep you can have an industrial sized bag of funyuns and legal weed at the same time
Nah I'm talking they love the current election results and don't realize that Jeff fucking sessions is going to start challenging States on the legality of weed (just my personal expectation).
They also consistently have industrial sized bags of weed, and now also refine said weed into more concentrated forms. They will sit there, haul a bowl, and the spout off some straight up xenephobia propaganda, and not realize that the reason their weed is illegal is the xenephobia they're still bringing about, or that the people they want to win are going to make sure they are still criminals, and that they would deride them as being problematic elements of our society.
We don't talk about it much though because it really harshes on the whole us smoking a bowl together thing.
I'm kinda hoping they just realize everything is shit on their own, but they probably won't.

Mostly yes. I like it okay because I don't drive. The walking part is a little unpleasant when it's cold or raining ice or has recently snowed, but it's still manageable. Then I just get to sit in buses sipping coffee and listening to music.

Also I think it's cool that our dean of students and a couple of our professors are on the morning bus with me, since they don't drive unless the weather is going to impede buses (for environmental reasons)

I have the lowest commute I have had in a while.
My current commute is ~25 minutes each way, previously I had 4 hour a day commute. It is doable, but it sucks so bad.
I changed jobs to only have a 2 hour a day commute, which is more doable with less suck.
Now I'm at 45-50 minutes a day, and I think that's really the most I want to commute anymore.
@Blameless Cleric still I wouldn't commute for a retail job, your work is bullshit get a new job.

I disagree!
But then I'm not entirely clear on where my income comes from nor the means by which I earn it, so

I spend about 1.5 - 2 hours a day in traffic to get to/from work.
I've done that for the past eight years.
I mean it's just something you get used to. All the big IT jobs are downtown and I don't want to live there so if I want to enjoy the suburbs or the country I gotta put up with the commute.

Sex-larceny.
I used to have 3 hours a day.
Now my commute is a 20 minute walk, or a 7 minute train ride.
And that's on the 2 days a week I have to come to the office. I usually work from home. Like today, for instance.
Cannot even tell you how awesome that is.
