John Wick is back to kill a bunch of people with a variety of weapons and methods. Discuss.

Unfortunately, not all countries have gotten the movie yet, but people may still be interested in talking about the first one or the general kickass world of assassins, so spoiler the plot details about the new one.

Also Payday 2 still pretends that John Wick is a member of the gang and released some new heists this week allegedly connected to the film.

Scene Spoiler (not related to above question)

When John Wick had to enter a room full of bad guys with only seven bullets, I thought we were going to get a scene of him having to really conserve ammo and make sure every shot counts, and perhaps an extended fight scene since he couldn't just shoot everyone in the head and they would keep getting up.

Instead he unloaded all seven of those bullets in roughly two seconds, and we still got an amazing extended fight scene anyways just due to how many bad guys were present for him to kill.

My theater had the same reaction

In general this was a great movie to watch with an audience, lots of great "OOOOHHHHH" moments

My friends and I were talking about that and how

both the first film and the second do such a subtle job of setting up that moment. You see him and Cassian go at it SO HARD but stop as soon as they're in the hotel. These two were trying to fucking murder each other. But rules are rules, and Wick is shown to be a strict adherent to those rules, even if he doesn't want to (like the death mark). He honors those rules. So when he fucking blows the guy's brains out in the lounge, you know it meant a lot not just for the world of the film but also Wick himself.

I am consistently amazed by both how good and how much I love these movies

With Chapter Two being as rad as the first and proving it wasn't just a fluke I feel pretty safe in putting the franchise up there with the best of them. Give me Chapter 3 and that possible TV Show immediately

In the museum, after one of his pick up guns runs dry, he just chucks it at some dude.

I went to a 12:45 showing on a friday afternoon. Place was still 75% full.

It's obviously a deliberate choice to make things more surreal but average citizens do not give a fuuuuuuuuuuuuck about people trying to murder each other in a way that was sometimes distracting

Have to agree with the spoilered bit.

I mean, give the guy a call, tell him you want to give him his car back and ask where he wants it delivered. Wash and wax that thing and don't stop apologizing for your dumbass (already dead) nephew until you're a safe distance away.

Or, for that matter, tell the rank and file goon squad. "Hey, Goons, Wick's going to be coming for his car now that he's killed my brother and my nephew and their entire gang. Yeah, the Mustang in the corner. When he shows up, just let him have the car. Put your guns on the ground, raise your hands and back away slowly while avoiding eye contact. Maybe, some of us won't get killed."

I mean, it's not going to hurt to try, is it? Compared to the alternative?

okay after seing this, if they do a tv series, i don't want a prequel

i want a series that bridges the gap between chapter 2 and chapter 3 because there is no way one movie can do it enough justice

overall, the movie really does rule, but i don't think it's as good as the first.

opening sequence notwithstanding, it took longer to get to a real good sweet spot of cool fight followed by cool fight followed by cool fight that the original did.

i wasn't a real big fan of the escape through the concert after killing the sister. once they hit the tunnels though, it was fucking aces

the action is definitely ramped up. and the set pieces are much more diverse, as is the color palate. (really the only sin i could level at original john wick was it was the most blue and orange movie.)

i liked the world-building a lot more in the first, i think there are some moments in chapter 2 where the world they built was a little too stupid for me. then again, the biggest strength of the original john wick was how little they told you, which just isn't the same here.

everything "accounts payable" felt super lame to me, for example

so yeah, the action is better and so much more diverse (for people who were turned off by how "samey" john wick classic's stuff was). the set design is unreal. the story stuff and world building just ain't on the same level.

basically your best bet is to half-ass the fight and hope wick only knocks you out

I had sort of an impression that "avenging his sister" was his half-assed cover story. John Knows it's BS, but to everyone else he needed to do something to at least try and make it look like he wasn't behind her death.
