I remember watching the original as a kid. At the time, I liked it for what it was on the surface; a fun cartoon with adventures.
I've since learned about the comic adaptions, and especially The Life And Times of Scrooge McDuck. If any of that works its way into this new show, it's gonna be amazing.
Also, I am enjoying seeing the triplets having some distinctness about them.
or is Scrooge Donald's uncle, and therefore actually GRANDuncle to the triplets?
I would assume the latter on account of the last name difference
but like
this keeps me awake at night.

As good as this looks in every other aspect BOY does it ever fall into the trap of modern animation that is hiring a bunch of famous people to do their own natural speaking voice. Aside from David Tennant who is legally required to do a Scottish accent for Scrooge Kate Micucci is about the only cast member whose voice sounds distinct at all.

You know Tennant's natural accent is Scottish, right?
I don't understand how that family tree is structured at all.
Edit: Oh, it's upside down.

Roots grow up and branch out, when they intertwine with someone that represents marriage or at least a coupling.
So Scrooge's sister, Hortense, married Quackmore Duck and together they had Donald and Della. Della and ??? had the triplets.

it never occurred to me until now that it's kind of weird that every time I've seen a "family tree" it's had the roots at the top and branches spreading downwards
the upside down approach makes sense from a historical/timeline perspective, people that came first listed first and then advancing downward, but from a tree metaphor perspective that McDuck/Duck family tree makes more sense

One of my favourite episodes of the Original Duck Tales was an episode that the triplets use a machine the inventor had created to multiply their allowance money so they had tonnes of money. Unfortunately, the massive supply of money caused rampant inflation, on par with Zimbabwe. Which was shown with a montage of random people buying things at insane prices. The gag was at the end, where a dentist told a patient that his bill was thousands of dollars, and the patient looked straight at the audience and sadly said "Some things still don't change"....
What I'm getting at, my parents were perplexed on how their six year old knew about the basics of inflation. And I don't think I'm the only one, a few history podcasts have used that same episode to explain why various countries were having horrible times with their money.
So Huey, Dewey, and Louie should be calling him Grunkle Scrooge
I see it happening at least once.
Am I nuts or do I remember there actually being some connective tissue between the new Ducktales and Gravity Falls somewhere?
I know some of the storyboard artists and staff migrated to Ducktales after Gravity Falls ended, but I don't think there's any direct connection beyond that.
For those that wanna read The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, Fantagraphics have been publishing all of Don Rosa's duck comics in chronological order and put out the Life and Times volumes last year.
Together, they cover the original 12 issues of Life and Times as well as a prequel story. Both are in print according to the site and cost $30 each.
Also included is "Guardians of the Lost Library". Not a favourite of mine but is considered by many to be Rosa's best standalone duck story, which is saying a lot.

I have been wanting to read those comics ever since I heard the story about Scrooge being tied to a steamboat's smokestacks and being mocked, right up until his captors find a letter from home saying that his mother died. And mock him for it.
And then Scrooge rips the Steamboat apart with his bare hands.

Worst name.
Famous hip hop artist Quacklemore.
Satans..... hints.....
Goostave isn't his uncle.
EDIT: Rather, he isn't a blood relative. Goostave married into the Duck family tree.
I wish I could find a copy for less than $texas
The triplets' setup-setup-punchline formula looks promising.
David Tennant?! thats gonna be awesome
and then I watched the trailer and was like.. oh.. hes just doing his own voice. All I can hear is David Tennant.
Metal Fatigue!
Yeah I'm having that problem from the trailer too but I imagine it will fade after an episode or two.
I see it happening at least once.
But it's probably a change for the better and my brain will just have to settle into it
But yeah, it ain't great
I prefer "dunkle"
duckle?
