as for 2017, i'm pretty sure logan's gonna end up being a placeholder.
there's...actually 10 upcoming movies i could see surpassing it. though some are limited release so who knows when i'll get to see 'em -- year's young.

I'm still super pumped for Atomic Blonde but I saw an early review out of SXSW that said the action is killer but the story is very unnecessarily convoluted and weighs the film down

So those of you that have done this, would you consider your list representative of your overall taste in movies?
Like, personally, I'm not sure I would. There's several good horror movies on my list, but nothing that quite gets across my love of weird schlock (Trick 'r Treat maybe fits this category, but it's not super representative honestly). And while there are no superhero movies on mine for very good reason(s), it does feel really weird to have a large segment of the media that I consume entirely left off.
Like, there are also some really telling things in my list - there are two modern adaptations of classical literature (and one riff on classical literature as well), there are several witty crime comedies, that sort of thing. But I'm not sure if its truly representative.
I think my list is pretty representative of my taste in movies on the whole, but my taste varies pretty widely between genres. I tend to like action movies that are really tight, I like horror movies with lore, comedies centered around big personalities.

I made an attempt to make it more representative of my overall tastes, so...maybe? Like, 2007 was down to Hot Fuzz, Hot Rod and Walk Hard, which was a tougher choice than I anticipated

Yeah pretty much. Sci-fi and comedic movies for me.

Wait Hot Fuzz was 07? Hmmmm. I'd probably put that in the hole buc man I can not handle the Timothy Dalton mini steeple scene. It actually keeps me from re watching the movie.

it's really hard for me to completely accurately represent my tastes with this list, to be honest. i think it's as accurate as can be, but there are just some genres/films i love that i think define me that are too old.
like...there's no french new wave! or hammer horror! or really ponderous seventies sci-fi!
but yeah, at least as for what i had to work with -- it's definitely me.

the hardest was definitely 1987, but The Lost Boys beat Predator and Robocop because it has the best ending in any movie ever
Sin City pretty much only wins 2005 because it's one of maybe three movies I saw that year (I had a lot going on, none of it good (which, incidentally, is also why 2008-2011 was a goddamn rollercoaster of emotions))
Oof. Mikey Neumann posted a post-hospital vid to give everyone an idea of how things are going for him. It's terrifying to think that one day everything's going great and the next ... well, not. Gather ye rose buds and all that.
Makes you kind of stop and think about your own life and what the fuck are you even doing? Or at least, it did for me.
I had "Auto-Immune Complications" from "Flu-Related Symptoms." (But I still say this was MS.)
Uh.... I'm not sure this is MS
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.
Can someone explain the metric by which a movie is considered a success? Because I really don't get it at times.
2010's A-Team for example made $177 million worldwide at a $110 million budget, but because it only made $77 million domestic, it was considered a flop? Not counting DVD and Blu Ray sales etc?
I'm happy to just have the one movie, but it's pretty baffling.

Yeah pretty much. Sci-fi and comedic movies for me.
I didn't even bother looking up what other movies came out that year
Like, the worst thing was when I would have a year that had so many movies I liked, and then the year after that was utter trash.
O yeah

I guess I also wouldn't say that it's overall representative. I think most people looking at it wouldn't really get an idea of what I'm about.
