Why the shit am I going to lose 30 points for a leaver? I mean what the fuck, I haven't lost 30 points from any single legit game in weeks, why do I lose 30 when I have absolutely nothing to do with it?

Your team got stomped which means you had bad stats and therefore more SR loss? (thus proving the issues with the system)

While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.

I still really do not get why the system doesn't just give individual players no loss or gain for a leaver screwing the team over, and then just punish groups when one of their members leaves.

If the problem is people trying to game the system by rotating leaving the game to avoid losses or some stupid crap like that, just punish their entire group for leavers, plus the usual punishments for the leaver.

Then assholes can't bail on solo players and screw them over, and premades get penalized if they run with asshole players.

At a guess, because the system is designed around as many people gaining rank as lose it. If only one person is losing rank then if the winning team gains rank it would result in a general upcurve in rank.

Also I guarantee it would cause headaches. Some goose would try to convince someone else to take a leaver penalty for them stuff like that.

So this past weekend, the Overwatch PS4 crew on NeoGAF put together a bunch of games (comp rules) with almost the whole community over there, with folks rotating in and out throughout the evening. I got on early, and these games are crazy and super-fun. You're playing with and against Grand Masters, Diamonds, Platinums and lowly Golds like me - and against these titans of Overwatch...

I scored a sick PotG basically just spamming Junkrat's crap into a choke. Pride and embarrassment, all at once.

At the very highest skill ranks it seems like the players already know each other so you'd likely still get ungrouped folks discussing it and rotating leaves. Unfortunately they give a bunch of weight to happens up there. Though I don't see why they just couldn't have a different rule for Grandmasters and above. They already have different grouping rules for them.

The other side is that in lower brackets trolling/harassing your teammates into leaving could become a thing which isn't a very good look at all.

Good news! It seems the Oni Genji and Officer D.Va will eventually show up in loot boxes.
We completely understand that there are some players who do not own or have access to a PC to play Heroes of the Storm. Because of this, we plan to add both the Oni Genji skin and the Officer D.Va skin to the normal, base Overwatch loot box at some point in the future.

With that said, I still encourage anyone with access to a PC to play the Nexus Challenge. Heroes of the Storm is an amazing game and you'll unlock those skins for free and before anyone else.[/spoiler]

Ranked update...I -was- 1801 today but had 2 games with people who didn't want to play with the team. 1749 is damn good though, and I'm +11 so far. I think it's going to happen people.

Random Thursday patch, probably because it fixes a bunch of Uprising bugs and they didn't have basically any patch at all on Tuesday.

    https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20754436365#post-1
On Assault and Assault/Escort Maps, teams now need to capture at least 33% of the objective before the tie-breaking system is activated

    Thank god.
Fixed a bug to prevent hit effects from being inflicted on D.Va’s human form while piloting the mech

    Double thank god.

    Also fixed Genji's ult.

I was not aware of that Dva bug.

It came with the Uprising patch. The main effect was that Dva would fucking constantly screech and squeal when being attacked in her mech as if she was out of it. And since she's basically always taking fire...

I think the official rationale is that they're afraid of incentivizing trolling your teammates to make them rage quit so you won't get a loss. I think that sounds pretty convoluted though, if they are adequately punishing bad behavior then it won't be an issue.

This sounds like a really really stupid rationale, given that the game lets you mute anybody you want in both voice and chat.

And they definitely aren't punishing bad behavior properly, I'm still regular running into leavers.

It's not about trolling to rage quit, it's about this dumb social stigma where somebody has to leave the game and take the hit to save the rating of everyone else on the team, and the arguing over who should do it. It might not be widespread, but just having it as another way for a person to be a goose is asking for trouble.

Yup. Yeah mute exists but having to use it when it can be avoided is counterproductive and it only takes one person buckling to ruin a game.

I mean I've seen an enemy team demand we force a tie when they had a leaver (despite us beating them handily up till that point and pointing out that our points we'd miss out on in a tie would amount that more then what they're save.)

If I was playing with a friend who was 1 win away from getting diamond for the season you bet I'd drop to prevent them from taking a loss. I'm sure this would be pretty common.

Wait I'm confused. I haven't been able to play for a couple days, and it will be a couple more until I can...
But can you literally not select D.Va right now?

Do you, in fact, have any builds in this shop at all?

Briefly last night you couldn't pick her because they thought she was causing crashes. This was news that they can do that kind of disabling even on consoles in real time.

Got Genji on random heroes. I know Random is a poor example of any team's actual ability, but I think I'm enjoying him a littl more. Trying to follow general tips, like getting around to the enemy's back to needle them and draw attention, then either deflecting and escaping, or Swift Striking through them back to my team. It can be fun to get the enemy turned around and shot in the back by my team.

I feel like I need to be a little deadlier on my own, though. I need to work on my aim with his shurikens, so that my presence is a threat on its own rather than the promise of one.

I feel to really make Tracer/Genji work, you need to get to the point where you can confidently solo-duel anyone (though it's worth noting Genji has harder counters than Tracer, who has only soft counters at best). Coming from behind and deleting reinforcements before they reach the point, executing a healer before their protection can notice, et cetera. You need to be able to see a McCree or Soldier coming for you and feel like "oooh I'mma mess this guy up."

In other words, a ton of practice.

You can also contribute with Genji specifically if you have really good situational awareness and get really good with his dash. A lot of times I'll get frustrated because we get the entire enemy team low but can't finish anyone; not only does Genji excel at finishing them off, he murders everyone else while he's doing it because his dash is effectively AoE (if you line it up correctly) and you can just chain resets over and over to tear teams apart.

I don't have nearly enough practice in on Genji to even bring him out confidently in QP, but he does produce moments that make you feel incredibly badass, entirely off deflect and swift strike.

In addition to situational awareness, the biggest element of success with Genji in my experience is patience. Everyone sees Genji as the carry hero and thinks that means you get in there and mess up the enemy team right away. But all the most successful Genjis I've seen are extremely patient about sitting back, getting poke damage, building their ult, and waiting until the exact right time to dive into the enemy backlines. Good Genjis also treat their cooldowns like gold and use them only for extremely specific purposes.

And that's why I will never be good with him - I am just way too damn impatient about getting into the action.
