Oh my, I can see it now. A 3 part series on the history of the Enslavers, 4hrs+ each. Deep dives into the Old Ones/Brain Boyz and the relationships between Orks, Eldar and the war in the heavens.

    Fuck.

I do find it a bit odd that Robert was just able to learn that the Emperor didn't think of him as a son. Surely, with all the psychic stuff he'd have figured it out before the heresy. Unless... The emperor did care, or care enough to hide his uncaring, and then the years of sleep changed him.

I like that the conclusion that Guilliman came to was literally what the Emperor has been preaching the entire time he was alive.

That he's not a god, and not worth worshipping.

    Just finished Master of Mankind.

Emperor's a dick, but I still love him. Additionally, now I need to know what happened to Ra?!

Make it a documentary. Gimme an old British man stuffily narrating the life cycle of a squig as it plops out of its fungal pod and is promptly used by an Ork as a hairpiece.

Devestation of Baal isn't out yet but the cliff notes were in 8th Edition rule book

Dante basically reforms the legion in all but name (almost all the sucessor chapters return) for a last stand on Baal.

I would love a legit-ass 40K RPG. Like an Inquisitor game where you can either be a Radical or whatever the other faction is! The alignment system is RIGHT THERE!

I can't imagine how anyone could ever make a WH40k rpg for a computer that does the setting justice (it's just too big), but i'd love to see some competent efforts at it.

do it like planescape torment, main game is set on a hive city and you occasionally pop onto other planets for specific quests

The demon within him eventually ends up in Abaddon's sword, so probably nothing good!

An inquisitorial hunt through a single hive city would be enough content to fill a game.

I mean, if you are playing an Inquisitor, I think they'd have to keep it fairly low-key. In the first Eisenhorn book, fighting a single Chaos Space Marine was a big fucking deal.

  • FiendishrabbitFiendishrabbit Registered User regular
Depends on the inquisitor. While it's unusual for inquisitors to have spacemarines on their retinue it's not unheard of. After all, if the need is dire enough an inquisitor can requisition entire sector fleets. Bu yeah.
Besides, low key is more fun. Nothing like leading a mottley squad of psykopaths into the belly of the underhive, your trusty bolt pistol in hand and your sights set on a chaos cult of former Planetary defence forces (only to find that Nurgle has bestowed his dubious blessing upon them).

It might be interesting to have several games like Torment, each telling their own story which interwoves into each other at some level.
Say chaos invasion on a planet seen by the eyes of a comissar.
Investigation before, during and after the invasion seen by an arbiter.
Hunt for heretics done by an inquisitor to stop the invasion, and having failed that, prevent it from happening again.

Each game having multiple endings, and if you play through all the games, you get a "true ending" based on which endings you got in each game.
Basicly take a WH40k story, and then pick randomly 3 or more people in it to act as protagonists.

Biggest issue with playing inquisitor is that you will constrained like no inquisitor ever is.
Sure other games have done it already, but it always leaves artificial limitations on what you can do (like, no blowing up planets because you had lousy breakfast).

40k is the most underutilized fictional universe ever when it comes to video games.

DoW3 was just disappointing and it's such a shame because there is so much goddamn potential.

I stick with DoW3 was a pretty good game but a weird mix of the previous two that it didn't pan out perfectly.

I got 50ish hours of play out of it.

Think one of my ideal 40K games would be a Mass Effect style game where you play as an Inquisitor. Could even keep the alignment system by making it Puritan vs Radical. Just investigating various mysteries and disturbances on a particular planet (or system maybe) and recruit various badasses for your retinue.

It is a pretty amazingly obvious idea I'm surprised no one has made a push for it yet. Suppose because Space Marines dominate the setting so much.

Make the inquisitor a psyker, give them some powers obtainable from Chaos/Xeno sources for radical, maybe some faith based powers for puritan. Give the option of choosing between an Adeptus Sororitas or a Daemonhost for a companion late game.

There also used to be other female Eldar gods IIRC but like most of the Eldar gods they died to Slaanesh

Hilariously Nurgle actually saved Isha, the last female Eldar God from Khorne.

It's unknown if she's there willingly or not, but she stays with him and he fuckin lover her, because he can use her to test new "gifts" and since she's the godess of life so she can never die from them.

It's not as bad as it sounds, since all of his "gifts" ie horrible disease plauges, cause no pain, and infact are apparently a blast to have.

It's just the horrifying seeping wounds and grossness on top of eventual death that's an issue.

Other then that he's probably the "best" out of all the chaos gods as far as motivations go.

So far, I have done... a design document.

listen, just use the dungeon world system for the dark heresy setting

there's a pretty good rogue trader hack already that can be retrofitted to dark heresy pretty well

    also, only use these dice

OG Necrons sent a middling-size battleship to investigate something on Mars, destroying like a third of the most fortified and powerful navy in the Imperium designed to defend Terra from any threat, while on a simple scouting mission. Then it just disappeared.

Newcrons have a whole lot more fluff and flavor, and certainly better rules, but they were awesome as the Unknowable Terror. I recommend anyone that can to try and read Xenology for a good dose of Necrons being spooky nine inch nails claymation videos turned into robots.

I remember their initial release. A single Necron Immortal could singlehandledly wipe out a good chunk of an enemy unit each turn, if not a whole unit.

Back then you didn't even really defeat them, you just made them take so many "losses" that they vanished from the battlefield.
