That was a pretty rad trailer! GW should do something similar for 40k, just a blaring rock vignette with some cockney lady doing a sassy synopsis of the assorted races.

The Gangs look so good. That are some pretty well done faces, too. Especially on the Eschers you have actually differently aged faces.

I wonder if the painter of them likes Overwatch. There's only one black haired Escher and she looks suspiciously like there was some inspiration.

That's apparently a set of sewer-themed tiles for underground fighting, you can play it on ye olde Necromunda-style terrain too.

I must say I'm a big fan of the boardgame stuff the box comes with. That makes starting out with it much easier and faster than having to prepare a whole board for it.

edit: The Chapter Approved preview has some interesting snippets, like the vehicle design rules trial run with Land Raiders.

On the plus side, at least it might make it slightly easier for new players to get into the game? Playing on an underground map is probably going to be more fun than playing on one that has a quarter of the terrain that it should.

Having enough multi level terrain for a whole table is a huge barrier for entry. So they supply a flat map. They also say they provide the rules for multi level terrain play. Sounds win win to me! :)

Yea, it looks like GW is doing a good job of making the accessible to get new players playing right away and still supporting traditional Necromunda 3d style. I'm actually excited to try out the sewer map, depending on how the rules are, it could make for some really interesting gameplay.

Yeah, just funny to see one of the defining aspects of the game completely absent in the box set. That doesn't look anything like Necromunda does it?

But really there is already a perfect ruleset for necromunda out there - Necromunda Community Edition. This release only interests me for new models and terrain.

For Blood Bowl and Shadow War the box set had limited faction rules but later releases included everything else. I bet they'll do something similar here

I mean, we don't really know much about the gameplay except that it has alternating activations. Kinda hard to make a judgement on the quality of the rules.

That's exactly what I was hoping for. Blood Bowl was done wonderfully. Hopefully I can dust off my Arbites.

From the preview I got the impression that other gangs might come with expansions for the setting.

    Necromunda salient points:
    • All gangs are multipart, multipose, and fully customisable down to hair and accessories.
    • Base game starter set is Escher vs. Goliath in a tunnel fight on boards that exactly match Zone Mortalis sections in size and layout.
    • Rules for vertical fights still exist, fully compatible with Sector Mechanicus gear (what a surprise)
    • Three custom dice types including scatter, ammo, and damage
    • Templates
    • Stat lines have gotten mad retro stylings with the return of not jut Initiative but also Cool, Willpower, and Intelligence(!)
    • Like 8th edition 40k the WS and BS are target rolls, as are all the returning old stats.
    • Weapon profiles are fully oldschool Necromunda with short and long ranges, hit modifiers, ammo rolls etc.
    • Gangers and gear are still bought with Credits, and a ganger with a pistol and power weapon is around 110cr.
    • Houses will have specialisations in equipment as well as combat style and advancement.

...because dragons are AWESOME! That's why.

If they're designing a game to bring new people in as opposed to only marketing to the nostalgia faction, presumably at a much lower price point than Shadow War as, it makes a whole lot of sense. Then they just have a blurb, 'ready to take your games out of the tunnels and into the 3rd dimension? See these awesome terrain pieces and drop into your local GW store to learn more.'

I'll probably pick up a box, even if just to use as a board game, mostly I just wanna paint some neon-ass underhive gangs.

I wonder what the price is gonna be. Shadow War was $120 and it came with a ton of plastic terrain, so I would hope it would be cheaper.

Hopefully there will be official rules for (or at least a way to shoehorn in) 40k races into Necromunda for all of the people who put together Shadow War killteams, especially since that game only released like four months ago.

I eagerly await the robot painting eschers as I kind of pulled it off long ago
But I feel I will strip them after watching the video even though I painted them nearly 20 years ago

Hmmm, with AdMech, Militarum, and Craftworlds all my armies are getting a codex this year. Then there's Necromunda, too. I might actually hold out on one or two of the books and concentrate on a single army.

I don't expect any of the three armies to get any new models, though, except for the split up minis from the triumvirates and maybe Eldrad.

edit: According to someone on Yaktribe who was at Nova the rules for multilevel terrain aren't actually in the box but in an expansion released on the same day.

I really wish the Ynnari and Harlequins would just be the same rules but included in both Eldar and Dark Eldar codexes. They're not really big enough for their own books. That was a big problem with 7th edition and the endless $40 supplemental books with a sliver of rules. Heck, the Iron Hands had a special codex for just one of their companies. I think there was a single page of actual rules in it.

I'm sure someone highlighted that if you wanted to play Ynnari in the last edition, you were looking at having to own 4 army books; Craftworld, Dark Eldar, Harlequins and the Gathering Storm, i.e. things had gotten out of hand. And I'm sure GW replied to this and said this wouldn't happen again.

So I'm hoping that we see at least some overlap in the rule books

So when can I put in a preorder for Necromunda?! That's all I've wanted for the past decade. I just bought the Shadow War book like the week before they announced the rerelease just so I can get SOME sort of necromunda going. I've got a mighty need.

I could have played Underhive Wednesday night but I could not make it through the Q&A that preceded it. The neckbeard just drowned that room and the presenters were basically just trying to out-smug each other in how they would say 'no' or 'I don't know'.

The questions were all completely inane and often repeated. I just left in disgust.

I have seen Duncan in the flesh twice. Both times he was eating breakfast. He is possibly human.
