I got really proficient in Paint during my sprite art days, but the version I have on my new computer is weird. I guess after a few forum games I'm getting the hang of it again, though!
I also like how I'm not the only one to "remember" the lone puzzle piece floating above the puzzle. I wonder if that's from another logo or something...
I have a feeling the floating puzzle piece was from a donate to wikipedia image, or possibly a wiki page under construction image.
Either way an image that was front and centre on certain wiki pages at some point.

so i actually started with the puzzle piece death star, but scrapped it because idk, i've always thought of it as more of a spot illustration or header image? but no apparently wikipedia does consider that the wikipedia logo
i also almost did the intersecting middle lines of the W but couldn't decide if that looked goofy or not
anyway here were my first, second, and third attempts (i was totally thinking of the favicon for the one i ended up submitting)
The actual logo is a total cipher to me. Even now that I know what it is, I just can't imagine it REALLY being the case. I guess it's just because I'm a graphic designer at heart so I just fixated on the font type and figured the picture was just some dumb image they included and totally not worth my attention.
This doesn't bode well for the rest of this game, I think I might just do everything by fonts.

I realized it was 1000% faster for me to make this logo in Illustrator than try to draw it by hand so that is why it looks the way it does. I promise I didn't just download a jpg and submit it.

I was honestly thinking about this and settled on the idea of maybe posting a youtube screen record of me making it in illustrator? I make logos for a living so building shapes in illustrator is 2nd nature

I ran out of symbols to use as letters by that stage and just used plain ol' letters as letters.
Submitted mine. Glad I was thinking of the right one. Looks like I got the general theme right, but most of the details wrong.
Also I will never ever get a font choice correct. Calling that now.
