I got 100% on Alan Wake 2, what a great game, I played Alan Wake Remastered a month ago to get back up to speed with the AW universe and jumping to Alan Wake 2, one thing in particular was noticeable - The Taken actually felt pretty dangerous here, I pretty much loved everything, the new character Saga, return of the Anderson brothers, the presence of the Federal Bureau of Control, the Koskela brothers etc. just too bad Barry Wheeler wasnt in it.

I got the Deluxe package with the DLC and you can just start them from the main menu if you want to, however as you play the game, they’ll suddenly appear as an optional kind of a break from the main story, first DLC is “Night Springs” episodes, which is like Twilight Zone episodes in this universe and the access point appears as TV’s showing the episode ingame and the other DLC “The Lake House” will be presented as backstory told by a character you meet.

I have a few game mechanic gripes though.
Inventory management, because the charms you find take up a ton of space and they shouldnt even be in same shared storage as regular gear. (You have limited storage and all charms take up like 20 slots) and also the ammo system, the more ammo you have, the less you get or you might even get nothing, if you empty your ammo into storage you open the same container, suddenly its full.

My first completion of 2025 is already here, it's the new achievements from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, bringing me back to 100% in that game. I'm gonna write a big post on my thoughts on that new content + all the patch 2.0 (etc) in that thread, but I'll say that the achievements for the DLC are... fine. See all the endings is a good choice, "get a 5 star wanted rating" seems to imply that Dogtown wanted ratings are new and interesting, I assure you they are not. Get all the Relic points makes me wish there were more "find the hidden stuff in the city" type achievements. It's especially interesting that they specifically designed these hidden terminals to be more easily gettable with things like double jump or skill in tech (to open a door) but NEVER to require those. Because they COULD have required double jump or charge jump, almost any character could go buy some legs and come back for them, they just made the routes thoughtfully enough to allow for alternative methods. A lot of the main game achievements were more annoying, like the ones that require the use of a specific mod or tech you might not care at all about (looking at you, Berserk). I could have tried to rush completion to hit 2024 but... nah, I enjoyed my time with it instead.

Cyberpunk is a game that so many people rave about and i just don't get it. I played on a base PS4 and that really soured me i think. Maybe in another year or two i will try the PS5 version and reevaluate.

I thought I didn't need a guide to plat FF VI. After all, it's a childhood game for me I've played countless times before. How difficult can it be?

My dumbass missed a chest in the imperial camp and since you can never go back to that location, it means I'll need a whole other playtrough to eventually get the plat.

Tough I tought you COULD go back to the camp in the SNES version? Is that a change in the pixel remaster? Or is it my memory failing me?

Got my first completion of the year done this weekend, finally returned to and knocked out Goldeneye. I was worried about unlocking the cheats, seeing as how there were a couple I never managed on the N64, but it ended up being pretty easy.

On the Xbox side of things, I finally completed the latest Elder Scrolls Online DLC from half a year ago, restoring my place as one of the 92 of 269,387 players on TrueAchievements with a full completion of the game. I also completed Donut County which was quick.

As a long time Xbox/console player I don't hold Steam achievements in the same regard, but I did get back into PC gaming recently and got some completions or near-completions. I got 100% completion of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I played through the trilogy countless times on console so playing it modded on PC was a fresh and fun experience. I got 100% on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart as well. I also completed most of Spider-Man, but there are two achievements that require New Game Plus so I'm not sure when or if I'll get around to that.

I'm now playing through Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes on Xbox. It's a 100+ hour completion so I'll see whether I can maintain the momentum. FFVII Rebirth comes out on PC at the end of the month so I'll be diving into that soon enough.

Ok, so 2024 was a good year for trophies with a wide array of smaller and larger games. I finally knocked some games off my backlog that have been there for a long time.

This was my final list of platinum trophies for 2024:
    Kingdom Hearts
    Mass Effect
    Mass Effect 2
    Mass Effect 3
    Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
    Tunic
    Bastion
    Dave the Diver
    Animal Well
    Moss
    Moss: Book II
    Paper Beast
    Concrete Genie
    Dragon Quest XI
    Born of Bread
    Trials of Mana
    Tinykin
    A Hat in Time
    Hello Neighbor 2
    Another Crab's Treasure
    Strider
    Star Wars Outlaws
    Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster
    Astrobot
    Yakuza: Like a Dragon
    Yooka-Laylee

27 Platinum Trophies for the year! Way more than I thought I would get.

The only problem is that I enjoy RPGs too much and they tend to be on the longer side.

But all in all, my highs and lows of 2024:

Some of my favorite platinum trophies for the year were probably the Mass Effect Trilogy, Dave the Diver, and Star Wars Outlaws. All were a blast to complete. Dragon Quest 11 was close as well. Just fantastic all around. But my game of the year was Astrobot. Just pure joy in game form. The trophy list was very easy but the game was so good.

Hardest game I got the platinum for was definitely Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Had a blast with the game, but that True Final Millennium Trophy was just a beast that took so much prep and so many tries to finally nail it.

Worst games of the year were probably Yooka-Laylee, Hello Neighbor 2, and Another Crab's Treasure. They were just not fun for different reasons.

Great year though, on to 2025!

Speaking of....I got my first plat for 2025 today. I finally finished Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes. Fun game but let me warn you that it is a grind...and not a fun one. The game itself was really fun and most of the trophies were fine but these specific side activities make the trophy/achievement grind not very fun: Card battling, Egg-foot racing, and the trading mini-game. These are fine as they are but the trophies require much grinding. Look up a spreadsheet on the trading and it'll make the post game much easier for that specific side activity.

    Platinums for 2025:
    Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes

I was hoping to get this in 2024 but the grinding made it too difficult to get it done that early. I probably won't spend as much time trophy hunting this year since the Switch 2 will be on its way and Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is due out next month. Those will have my time for a bit after release.

    Either way, nice start!

Thanks! I keep hearing that Unicorn Overlord is a good one. I might have to check it out at some point. I'm kind of hoping to start the Trails of Cold Steel games this year as my big RPGs.

Oddly enough, I actually resumed playing Eiyuden Chronicle too. Got back into the groove but then I also realized why I got annoyed/bored with it, all the basic quality of life misses really added up. like... for starters show the affinities. I'm pretty sure this information was available in game in the last Suikoden so why regress in your spiritual successor? Requiring a support character to be able to switch party members in a dungeon is also a miss. Then Then there's movement speed... and ugh. This is another thing that could have been a passive that didn't require a support character slot to use. It's just... dumb.

The characters themselves are tiered out, and this plus affinity can make combat swingy. Also, there's literally no reason for you to not be able to pause and return to the main menu in combat. Especially if I know it's just going to be a chip fight that you can literally blow through with a different party. I suppose it wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't playing the game on hard but man is it obnoxious.

Don't bother with begioma until you acquire much better spinners, it will be a chore if you do.

Also when you get to the race mini-game, there is still a bug where if you at any point move your joystick too far back the controls will reverse... even though you are still moving forward. I think it fixes when you get to a full stop or something. If you have a keyboard you can use that (xbox controller d-pad is usable too, but imprecise given it's 8-axis). There is an achievement to win all the races.

edit: would also mention that as you're doing it, don't neglect the "core groups" for each of the main trio. The game will lock them in as party members, though you do have the option to put three required party members into a reserve so they are technically present.

So one thing I wanted to do this year is clean up some of the games that had dlc added but I hadn't gone back to yet. I'm also cleaning up a few games where I didn't have all of the trophies. So between yesterday and today I got all of the trophies for What Remains of Edith Finch, which I was missing a couple trophies for. There is no platinum, but it's nice to have that 100% now.

I also did the Truth Search dlc for Man Eater today, which was a fun dlc story. Man Eater is now back to 100%.

I'm working on Guacamelee 2 dlc now and also the first Star Wars Outlaws dlc story.

I want to do the dlc for Bugsnacks as well but I don't seem to have my save data any longer. I must have deleted it at some point. Not sure I want to play through part of that story again just to do the dlc though.
