I was just eating Jack In The Box tonight, when I realized that Morpheus, deriving his name from the Greek God of Dreams, fits well, thematically, with a ship named the Nebuchadnezzar- the King of Babylon whose dreams the prophet Daniel interprets in the Old Testament. The King of Dreams and the Dreaming King, both together.
God damnit, Wachowskis, you took my fucking money. I even beta'd your shitty MMORPG. I bought a pair of shitty Neo sunglasses, and I paraded around in a cassock that year on Halloween night. It's been four years. Aren't you done with me yet?
I don't wanna kill anybody. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from.
I too, went as Neo for two Halloweens. I looked fucking awesome. I had the long mandarin jacket thing and a metal pole. Everytime I saw a Mr. Smith costume we would stare off and then shoulder each other as we walked by each other. It was awesome.
I really wish I still liked those movies.
EDIT: I blame it on them being rushed to do the sequels. I mean, the writing was so fucking sloppy.
I have the same thing going on. I'll be minding my own business and then I'll be like....fuck,, why didn't I realize that before? Not as often, though, because I've never read/seen half the things they're referencing.

That story is always all over the place. Obscure news sources always bring it up. Didn't Grant Morrison file suit against these guys too, because he thought they were ripping off The Invisibles?
Yeah, they didn't have the two sequels written right off the bat. A few years went by, then they got the green light and THEN they rushed and mashed it all together so they could film it.

Stewart's case was dismissed in June 2005 when she failed to show up for a preliminary hearing of her case. In a 53-page ruling, Judge Margaret Morrow of the Central District Court of California dismissed the suit, saying Stewart and her attorneys had not entered any evidence to bolster its key claims or demonstrated any striking similarity between her work and the accused directors' films. As of this writing, Stewart's case is no longer before the courts. She has announced that she does not plan to let the matter drop, so possibly this case will someday be re-filed and heard, but for now it is over.

TRUCK ONE I OMCING TOWARDS TRUCK TWO
BOOOOMMM
ahahhahah
You know, one of the main things that pissed me off was this:
The first movie ends with: "I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see," etc. followed by the super awesome Rage and flying and then I figured he would fly above everyone downtown and be like, "hey everyone, look at me, I'm freaking flying here and I"m going to rip a hole in reality here and hey look everything is fake!"

In the sequels he never does anything like this.
Well, the subject matter was different. The universal themes of rebellion and freedom weren't present in the sequels for most of both.

I don't buy that at all. It was all over the place that she won like $90 mil back in the day. Crew members testified that the wachowski brothers had handed out photocopied versions of her original script for christ sake. But it doesn't matter what really happened because it was a Warner Brother's movie, which means if Ted Turner doesn't want the world to know about it, you can be damn sure that no one will. Plus, if you didn't immediately think that the second movie had been written by someone else, you're dumb. It completely changed feel altogether.

So we are agreeing then?
also, I did enjoy parts of the sequels: The final battle for Zion, the freeway battle, hell I even liked the final fight with Mr. Smith in the rain etc. I FUCKING LOVED THE conversation with the Architect.
bad parts: The techno-rave in Zion, the long, long dull conversations and side-quests.
It's not that I'm against the idea of her being right in this case, but such a decision would've popped up in the mainstream news even against Ted Turner's mysterious ways.
It was the only good thing that came after the original movie. The sequels damn near killed the whole thing for me.
Yeah, me too. I wept openly.
I'll never forget the first time I saw the Matrix. It was at a time when I didn't have the internet for like, a year. Also we didn't have cable just watched rented movies and stuff. I had not seen ONE preview or heard any hype for the movie. I walked by a theater and saw the poster. I thought, "looks like a generic action movie, probably has something to do with hackers. Eh. I'll watch it, I'm bored."
Then, 45 min later when Neo wakes up in the vat and I'm all HOLY FUCK I KNEW IT I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS and then Martial Arts too! I nearly shat myself there in the theater.
Sometimes I think I know too much about upcoming movies and this has taken some enjoyment of them away from me.
You know, for all the shit that is brought up about the movie...I think this is the first time in a while I realized there was always something that seemed off about that fight with Agent Smith at the end of Revolutions. It wasn't the scale, or the fact both were flying. Hell, it wasn't even all the other Smiths watching instead of joining in. I think it was this:
I mean, I hadn't even thought about it until just now.
That reminds me of another major beef I had with the sequels.
Neo's speed: At the end of the first he can "move like them". In the sequels he does this, like once or twice and the agents almost never do it. I was hoping that every fight with the agents would be all sped up and crazy. I mean, they were UPGRADES people! Shouldn't they be moving faster? shouldn't he at least speed up near the end of the fight or something? NO ALL I GET IS ONE LOUSY SPED UP SIDEKICK AT THE END OF THE THIRD ONE
BUT THEIR FUTURE IS THE PAST BECAUSE THIS ISN'T THE FIRST MATRIX THERE HAVE BEEN SEVEN OH GODDAMN I REALLY HATE POST-MODERN STORYTELLING WHEN THEY DO LAYERING

I don't quite know how to explain my enjoyment of the trilogy other than well, just enjoying it.
