all you get is names, office locations, and areas of practice... headshots if you're very lucky
then you call around to those offices and find out non of these doctors are accepting new patients
so you look farther and farther away from home until you finally see someone who will take you on and accepts your insurance
you go to your appointment, wait half an hour past its start time, and then the doctor looks at you for five seconds, writes you a vaguely related scrip and kicks you out the door. the doctor charges your insurance like $1000 and 50/50 chance they try and make you pay 20% of it
then your job changes insurance the next year and you have to start the whole thing over again
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies
we're double scared of going to the doctor so we need to pump out the dire warnings for 37.5° fevers so when someone's pushing 40° they actually go in
my impression is that you guys kind of are crazy about going to the doctor and not at all scared of it
the idea of going to the doctor with the flu - I mean, a seemingly regular flu that's just begun - also seems to me, from what I have always been told, also pretty nuts?
last time I went to the doctor with the flu it was because I thought it might not be a flu.
I think you are thinking influenza = bad cold.
And this is very very not true.
no I am absolutely not
I know influenza, I've gotten it a couple times and it sucks but there isn't much to be done but to take it, go to the doctor if it lasts unreasonably long, goes and comes back, or if some symptoms get worryingly bad.
like what you're saying is running counter to everything I've ever been told about the flu.
And in general going, not to the ER but your GP or a nurse practitioner, if you have more severe symptoms an urgent care can help you a lot.
And yes there are antivirals, tamiflu being the main one.
I've just been misreading you, if that's what you're quoting, since yeah that doesn't say "if you have the flu, go to the doctor" it tells you when there's reason for concern about your flu
I mean, most people don't know what the flu really feels like. But overall this year if you have enough symptoms and with how the US system works hitting up the doc earlier than later will save most folks time and money anyway.
Mostly because the strain going around isn't a weaker strain it is more knock you on your ass with a high rate of complications strain so the CDC is being a little more pushy on saying to to the doc and get checked. Doesn't mean an ER more like a place that can do the test, give you meds if they can, and send you home.
yeah so many people think the flu is like, a bad seasonal cold
"a bit of both" is also something people say, according to the doctor who confirmed to my elation that I had the flu
I mean yeah a mild flu is kinda like a really bad cold that last three times as long, but you can't say that to people because most people have no idea what a really bad cold even is like
my personal definition of the flu is, if you were lucid for all of it, and you didn't spend a week just being miserable in bed, you're full of shit you had a cold.
a facemask really fits in with cred's cyperpunk aesthetic
I don't embody that aesthetic at all, sadly; I just really like it. Maybe some day I'll invest in some cool pieces and/or cheap chinese knockoffs of them.
Something common to a lot of 'techwear' looks is the half-covered face--not with a facemask but either with a super-long turtleneck-type thing or a separate neck piece. You could definitely do the facemask though (in black) and it would be a good variant.
High neck hoodie is a good place to put a microphone wire.
Proper cyberpunk should always be able to broadly cover the eyes to defend against facial recognition.

Severe weather warning means that literally everybody in Glasgow city centre is trying to leave at once.
Hell with that, if I was in the area and a weather warning hit, I'd find somewhere to hunker down with a bottle of Auchentoshan...or five.

Crabcakes for some reason
I didn't bounce back 100% from yesterday where I was sick, but I am back to like 80%, and I never had a fever, so I'm pretty sure I don't have the flu.
i don't know if i've ever known true love before this moment
As far as I'm concerned this photo is historically accurate re: the crucifixion

An 1800 calorie steak
Summer has the flu.
She has been in bed for almost a week, fever, sore throat, body aches, chills, the whole shebang.
She got on tamiflu (a day later than she should have) as did I... and I have luckily been able to dodge this bullet, and she is coming out of it now.
The medical professionals in my family straight up said to get checked out to make sure its the flu by a pro and get tamiflu for her and myself. Feels weird taking an antiviral when I don't have the virus, but apparently this is what you do when your partner is sick now.

The confusion seems to stem from a poorly named catchall term, "Flu-like symptoms".
That term gets added to anything that makes your nose runny or cough despite usually bring mild.
Has this year's big flu strain been in a flu vaccine before?
I've been good about getting flu shots for last 10 years.
No, it looks like a novel strain. Also it has been pretty rapidly evolving. I think last I read there are 160 different genetic variations of the strain or something nuts like that.

in my mind you are cyperpunk like cass is esports
if we ever meet I'm going to mentally project an asymmetric black-on-darker-black coat onto you, despite what you may be actually wearing
how does getting your own doctor work in the US btw
depends on your insurance or lack thereof, but usually for a general practitioner you just find one that takes your insurance
for a specialist, it depends on how your insurance works whether you can just go to one or whether you need a referral first
if you don't have insurance well lol sorry loser
oh yeah I meant a GP, like, your doctor, referrals for specialists is super common in the world (for damn good reason)
I don't know if I can not have a doctor. Googling doesn't help me, I just get tons of results on how to change your fastlege (firm doctor, which I choose to not translate better), and none on how to get one and I'm honestly not sure if that is something anyone actually ever have to do (you get your mom's doctor)

ahhh if only
I either dress like an extremely boring programmer (buttondown, chinos, oxfords--at least I normally wear dark pants instead of khakis? But blue buttondowns generally) or like an ill-kempt nerd (darkwash jeans, vans, somewhat oversized black tshirt with a nerd logo)
I'd like to spend some time some day looking into cooler/more cyberpunk clothes, but probably knockoffs because the actual items that people tend to wear are insanely pricey. That said, there is an Arcteryx brick and mortar store close to where I live so I might at least try some shit on at some point(they are not predominantly a techwear sort of place but people like one of their lines for some items)
Been playing a lot of Overwatch again as Destiny 2 has just lost a bit of it's luster.
Damn. I don't think there has been a character design more tailored to a single person as Moira is to Credeiki.
Cred are you like friends with blizzard devs or something. Cause it's kind of eerie.
Heh yeah it's pretty cool that the whole aesthetic is enough of a thing that various character designers envision it as well, and also cool that my personal brand (or what have you) is strong enough that it makes people think of me.

How do immigrants get one?
I have no idea
a requirement for this thing is to have a proper national ID number, and not a D-number (a temporarily assigned number, either because you're in the process of immigrating, or just because you're here to work for a little while and need it to work. The D stands for the long since defunct directorate for sailors, since that was one the most common need for ID number for non-citizens.), or be an asylum seeker, so maybe when you get it you also get a letter saying "this is your doctor now", I don't know
EDIT: apparently one can opt out, not that I have any idea how, but only 0,4% have done so
EDIT: the people with D-numbers who nonetheless have a right to a fastlege are asylum seekers and NATO personnel
EDIT: oh and yeah you need an ID number to work here hence the need for the concept of a provisional D-number for people who can't have national ID numbers ("Birth numbers", directly translated. a swede working as a barista for a summer or whatever would be one of those.)
I have interacted with it only once, which was slightly embarrassingly not that long ago, when I thought oh yeah I have been living in Bergen for some years now maybe my doctor should too
