So I just googled roko's basilisk, and basically this roko guy dropped a shitload of acid, and then had a bad trip while watching Back to the Future and The Matrix simultaneously.
Roko's basilisk is what happens if we created a robot that was Satan, the devil, who eternally tortures people
If you would respond with, "well that sounds like a bad idea", the thought ecperiment posits "ah, but wouldn't it be fucked up if it was a worse idea to not create it?"
sometimes i lay awake at night thinking about the number of thought experiments that are based around of some sort of clone, simulation, or doppleganger of you experiencing something negative, and how the people who posit those thought experiments probably scoff at thought experiments where the harm is done to some random person
but I bet Elon Musk would totally get caught saying something like "Better to rule in the horrible state I created then serve in the paradise I could help create".
You are tied to a train track. Five clones of you are tied to the other track, and will be run over by a train unless you yell for the train to switch tracks and run you over instead. What do you do?

Zendaya and Olivia Munn's dresses look nice, as is Chadwick Boseman's Popesuit.

Why on earth would I switch tracks? It's every living being's moral imperative to destroy all copies of oneself to become The One. That train is doing me a huge solid.

Met Gala is currently entering the Eurovision phase of crazy thing that has been going on for ages but has finally butted into mainstream american social media presence, so there's more of an element of oneupmanship in making a splash now.

There are also probably worse demons than Satan.

Also what you said.
Always good for crazy fashion photos.
I'd show up to this thing in t-shirt and jeans.

He hasn't been the last few years, but in like 2016 Kayne showed up in this:
Why on earth would I switch tracks? It's every living being's moral imperative to destroy all copies of oneself to become The One. That train is doing me a huge solid.
Ah, you were at the 1999-2000 gala?
So it's possible.
I love that most of the replies are variations of "ha, I would obviously never be on time so the one that's already there is obviously the clone"
and then a couple people who are like "sweet, my life sucks, they can have my shitty job, responsibilities and mountain of debt"
and that one person who immediately wants to bone their clone
I can think of worse ways to go
