If it has more than a single usb-c I have not noticed it, certainly not on the clamp stand.

Any strong opinions on 32:9 vs 21:9 for widescreens? Found this one online which seems like it'd replace my dock, kvm, network switch, two monitors and webcam all at once and not lose anything productivity wise while getting the benefits of a direct connection from my desktop.

They also had this one for a lot less but it'd be losing some pixel width and I'm not sure I'll notice the refresh rate differences since I haven't been noticing it on my KVM which has things at 60 Hz

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this

Note I won't be using it in brightly lit rooms, and it's only for gaming. Basically everything else is done on my secondary.

I ended up snagging the 34" OLED alienware from Best Buy for $800, which is significantly more than I've spent on a monitor before, but it seems like a solid deal. I've never used an ultrawide (or an OLED for that matter) before though; anyone have any personal experience with this one or adapting from a standard ratio monitor?

I’ve had one for over a year. Fantastic monitor.

I’ve got some reactions to using it in this thread probably a few pages back by now.

Hey thanks! Feeling happier with the purchase after seeing your initial positive comments when you got yours in this thread. Random basic question, but for the HDR stuff you mentioned some games auto-detecting HDR; do I just make sure it's turned on in Windows and in the monitor settings?

I'm using Windows 10, but I hear Windows 11 is much better at this.

Windows HDR is a real mixed bag. It depends on the game. Some games will detect that you have a HDR capable monitor even with it turned off, and will turn it on when you turn on HDR in game. Others will require you to turn it on in Windows and then launch the game to be able to use it, otherwise it's greyed out. Others still will require you to turn it on in Windows and then launch the game to even see HDR as an option in the menu.

If you're concerned about image retention/burn in, I've been using this solidly for over a year, both as a WFH production monitor (so large mostly pure white blocks on the screen), for youtube (so pillarboxed videos with black bars on the sides) and got games (lots of static UI elements - Genshin Impact is awful for this since those UI elements are pure white).

So far, I can't see anything out of the ordinary when I cycle through full screen red/blue/green/black/white. I do however try to keep up with the 4 hourly refreshes unless I'm in the middle of something I can't put off, like a multiplayer game.

Also, something you might notice. Every now and then I get horizontal grey dots in a 1 inch band flick for a few milliseconds on the screen. I did a bit of research and it's something to do with running an OLED at 144mhz on DisplayPort. It rarely happens, usually on a cold morning when I first turn it on. If I change it to 120mhz like I saw suggested it doesn't happen.

Personally I just leave it on 144mhz since they've got a super generous return policy.

I had much better luck with HDR once I moved to Windows 11. It was always wonky with Windows 10.

Windows 11 and an oled panel have turned HDR into a solved problem for me.

I've bought myself a USB to turn into a windows 11 installer, I've got am empty nvme in my first M.2 slot, and I just keep forgetting to unplug my old SSD and do a windows 11 install.

    Maybe this weekend.

After having this for a couple of days I am not regretting the purchase. It looks insanely good. Cyberpunk HDR was a little wonky (reflected light is way too bright in some areas?) But everything else I've tried it with is wonderful.

That's an issue with Cyberpunk's ray tracing, not your monitor's HDR.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.

Welp, literally a few days after my warranty expired my ASUS VG259Q stared having the OSD menu pop up and interact with itself in the corner of my screen. Though I've read that engaging with ASUS support if it had been in warranty is a nightmare, so who knows if it would have mattered.

It's still usable with max transparency for the OSD and the shortest timeout time, since it's not changing settings just moving through the menu, but it's really irritating. Locking the OSD just makes it put a big OSD LOCKED LOOK UP INSTRUCTIONS warning in the dead center of the screen every time so that's even worse.

For now, I'm at...taping the little menu joystick towards the 'exit menu' side, which seems to have minimized popups and terminates most of them quickly. But I'm going to have to figure something else out.

I've seen a lot of people with the same problem with the same monitor or similar ones, the solutions I've seen include warranty, compressed air, open it and replace the button, and buy a new monitor.

So I guess it's time to get some compressed air?

A salient reminder that modern screens are themselves specialised computers, crappy ones in Asus' case.

    Well ordered a MPG 321URX QD-OLED a while back on back-order.

Forgot about it and it just showed up at the door. Interested to see what this is like.
