You know at least one person in Nintendo HQ has now suggested changing the final boss of NSMBU Deluxe to be Bowsette, much like Bowser used the Super Bell in the 3D World finale.
Of course it won't ever happen, for.... all the reasons...... but still.

What did Nintendo do
they introduced the super crown, an item that'll be in the port of New Super Mario Bros. U, and replaces the super mushroom when you play as toadette. It turns her into princess peach with toadette's hairstyle
and then someone made a fan comic of what if you put that crown on bowser instead and accidentally made a design that apparently literally everyone who likes women is horny for
and now we're reaching phase two of this where people are starting to do fan art of the crown on all different kindsa mario characters

Female bowser art (particularly human female bowser) wasn't based on anything in particular, and so it was inherently kind of obscure. Folks like TF smut, but it didn't tick enough boxes to get that popular.
But now Nintendo literally made a hat that turns its wearer into a peach version of them self, which makes related fanart way less obscure and more line with the way the game actually plays.
Nintendo handed the internet a plot device for instant smut.
This morning all I can think about is how there's absolutely gonna be some novice trans kids out there for whom Super Crown Bowser is the first piece of gender transformation media they ever came across.
I actually had a stretch of time when I had to get by on the fuckin' Ansate Cross from Ogre Battle 64, which should tell you just how lean those days were. Truly this is a glorious new era.
