The Jolly Rogers
Ravas looks over the room glumly "Considering there are fewer white "pieces", I'm guessing that's us."
Surveying the pieces with the stone warriors still fresh in his mind, he suspected the black pieces represented Death while the White represented the Ur-Mage, but this was based on assumptions he wasn't sure the Ur-Mage held. He looked around for a more definitive indicator.
After the wings were attached, the corpse of Vermilion shambled to the edge, then dropped into the chasm...

The skeleton held a rusted key ring. It appeared to have drowned trying to free itself with the keys when this ship sank. Most of the keys were rusted, save for 1 which shined a pure silver. Krolax could also see a nearby skeleton had a scroll in it's hands that was rapidly distintegrating in the punishing waves.
The Jolly Rogers
The pieces looked in unison to the pair.
"Our master is infinite, yet not possessed of infinite patience. Choose and perish." The blue smoke in the great globe above began to swirl furiously.
"Go down, kick ass, and set yourselves up as gods, that's our Prime Directive!"
The zombie is borne aloft on the air current. Then with a screech, a large avian shape swoops down from above, snatching up the remains of Vermilion and lifting back into the dark air of the tower. Those of learning among the Company could make out the shape of a Roc, but it's coloration and call was unlike any Roc they had heard of.
The Ramrods
Krolax snatches the key ring, the skeleton thrashing ineffectually in the water as it's disturbed.
The captain and Krolax are at 2/4 Breath, Durgon is at 3/4 breath, Arngrim and Fox remain at 4/4
"Go down, kick ass, and set yourselves up as gods, that's our Prime Directive!"
“So,” Helter gestures dramatically, “What are we picking exactly? Black rook! Move in front of what might be a white king! Castling! Other chess terms as an answer! My favourite colour is blue! I don’t think I want to walk into any portals unless you tell me what’s in it and come with me! 49!”
Helter slumps.
“Did that do anything? What else...”
The skeleton thief takes a black spear off the wall.

Krolax, realizing he only has a short amount of time to get this done, wastes no time as he heads over to grab the scroll, as it could be useful, then immediately swims to the chest to try and unlock its secrets.
After seeing what happened to the zombie, Rat puts on a pair of wings for herself. "Well. Let's do this," Rat then keeps an eye out for steam vents that might help rise her up and leaps off - trying to catch the wind currents up to the platform while keeping an eye out for Rocs.

As Rat moves to don her wings, the Argent Specter is right beside her. He nods his helm in her direction. "I'm to understand there's a saying in the southern lands: 'Don't go out in the dead of night without a Winged Man'. I've never met one of these fabled warriors, but the premise is sound."
With wings adorned, the paladin attempts to take off and follow the thief, defending her from any potential flying attacks.

Ravas follows Helter's lead and grabs an alabaster sword from the wall. He walks to the white stone figure in the South East , the warrior looks that statue up and down.
He stands in the space in front of the statue and points at it with the alabaster sword "Can you move here?" - a bit uncertain if the stone figure will follow his order, he sidesteps to another panel and points at the square in-front of the statue with the newly acquired sword.
The Crusaders launched into the air, the winds blowing. If they were to blow in their favor, remained to be seen. They could see in the gloom the winds were coming from many vacuous mouths on the walls, drawing in breaths and expelling them

"You misunderstand the nature of the challenge crusaders. Err not again, else it will be game over for thee. To corner the king is the goal of the game. A single word uttered and victory is claimed."
"Go down, kick ass, and set yourselves up as gods, that's our Prime Directive!"
The Argent Specter took off and aimed for what he thought was a current of air, but a stray stream of steam blew in from the side, knocking him towards the wall, sucking him flush. Sister Sorla was blasted forwards unexpectedly, landing with both of her hands on the runed platform in the center of the chamber. She saw a hallway leading off to the Southeast before the runes began to flash brightly and she was surrounded by light, which quickly spread to engulf the rest of the company.

Helter could see the word “Safe” written in chalk on the square as the alabaster king to the southeast withdrew into it’s portal.
“An unusual gambit, strategy deep. The king -oh, the king- trades places with his keep!”
“Oh that’s— Castling,” Helters voice is somehow off, deeper perhaps, older, for just a moment, “Wow! I don’t know how I know these!”
The onyx pawn to the South retracted, it’s square also had writing. Only the onyx knight and onyx queen remained. The room was eerily silent.
The room was eerily silent, thought Helter, and something told him to quietly draw their sickle.
