I think that the blue pod also may have had a bunch of lesser prizes in it like basic resources and food. At the time I just rushed to pick everything up before it could decay and then quickly stuffed everything important looking into the tek Rex. It wasn't until hours later that I noticed that I had two stacks of basic meat jerky in my inventory instead of just one.
Yesterday several of us did a Blue (easiest) Drop Pod. Here's what we learned.
-You can't damage stuff from inside the shield, you need to patrol outside of it
-There were three 'attack lanes' we needed to defend against
-Nothing was particularly difficult at Blue level, but there were a lot of creatures in each wave. 40ish
-It was less about survival than defense. With a high level rex and several Velos, we weren't in danger. It was about protecting the Pod
-Rewards were decent, could be better. 7 Cryopods, a handful of element stuff. Some fairly good BPs and tools/armor. A large amount of foundations/pillars.
I think we can handle a yellow, but I'd suggest at least 3 people, if not 4-5 per pod.
Me and Delkarn handled a blue pod the other night fairly easily with two high level sloths. We tried a yellow later on (with a third sloth) and got our asses handed to us as soon as wave 2 started and we got hit with 3 spinos. They took the bubble down in about 20 seconds too. Not saying you guys can't handle it as you sound significantly more prepared than we were, I'm just saying have an escape plan and that spinos are fast and persistent.
We're working on a line of Rexes for stuff like that, once they are ready to go we can get eggs to people. I am pretty sure that anything Yellow and up a single Velo isn't going to cut it against a wave. There will be just too many enemies and not enough stamina/time to kill them all.
Yellow my thinking is:
-At least one Rex on each 'lane'
-Two to three velos to cover flyers and back up the rexes
Red:
-Multiple high level Rex/Spino per lane
-Healing creatures in the shield
-Lots of Velos focused entirely on flyers
Purple?:
-Basically a full perimeter of high level dinos on all sides
-Maybe Meks
I did a Red solo (in god-mode) before I let people on the server, and there were dozens of spinos and wyverns. They get CRAZY. I was just doing dino-wipes every wave to clear them out in time.

I think velos can still be valuable so long as something is present to act as a tank. My current velo has over 5000 stamina and her darts hit for over 70 damage per dart. That's some insane DPS considering her rate of fire.
She was tamed at 130, and I've got a male and female who were tamed at 145 and 140 but I haven't started any eugenics programs yet.
Hopefully by the weekend I can finally breed a high level tek female, get us a high level pair and start pumping out eggs.
Seriously, if you see a high level tek rex female, grab it. It would save us a ton of time. The only female I managed to grab so far was lvl 18. Our male was 174.

Starting tonight, we'll have a breeding pair of Tek Rexes that will have babies at lvl 261. This is about as close to perfect as a Tek Rex baby can be without mutations. (I think the max a wild rex could be tamed at is 270)
So eggs will be available soon.
Someone should work on a line of Velos.

RP Visual Storage gives us a bunch of neat looking containers, each holds a single resource only, but a lot of that resource.
Structures Plus gives us the Transfer Tool (not to be confused with the Transfer Gun)
We can combine these two things to auto-sort basic resources. Here's how.
Under 'Sources', select your own inventory, dino inventories, etc...
Under 'Items to Transfer', select all the basic resources such as stone, flint, thatch, wood, etc...
Under 'Destination', select all of the RP Visual containers you have. Stone sheds, Thatch Carts, etc...
Right-click one of the numbers on the bottom to save this as a preset.
Now, every time you bring one of your gathering dinos home, activate the Transfer Tool, select your preset, and hit Transfer. Voila, the bulk of your resource storage is done.

So she transfer tool trick is really good. I recommend you leave out gasoline and fertilizer from the main transfer list if you include structures. Otherwise you may find you emptied your generators and veggie gardens like i did. I think transferring from dino/player to destinations is the best choice in general though.

Yeah I leave structures out personally. I've also added in raw meat and berries and my trough. Which shouldn't cause sorting problems... I think.
Also a hell of a lot cheaper than buying ammonite bile to make S+ dedicated storage. (which ARE awesome btw)

It's that time of year. The harvest has come in, friends and family gather for a traditional feast. The corrupted dinos start screaming that one Duran Duran song for some reason.... And children listen closely at night for the soft flapping of Mothmanclaus.
Yes, it is time for.... MOTHSGIVING.

Moths are now tameable. This is a permanent change.
All resources now respawn twice as often. This lasts for a week.
All resource harvesting is doubled. This lasts for a week.

Happy Holiday, dino friends.

Is there anything that can be done about Wyverns wandering into the city? We don't have anyone deliberating kiting them in, but we've had a few instances where hard veins and pods have been triggered inadvertently and the resulting wyverns have managed to wander into the "safe zone" of the city.
All I can think of is maybe working to sertup a tek generator and tek shield bubble over people's homesteads to at least stall for time until the Cavalry can arrive.

Alright, as much fun as it is to make moths useful for a bit, I think it's time. I have highly enjoyed exploring this map via Gasbag and on land, but that can't go on forever. Also it's Christmas month.
As of right now, all flyer tames are unlocked.

So . . . is ARK "done"? Are they done adding and tweaking? Are they done with all their story DLC? I don't really follow the community crunch and informational stuff, but I'm just assuming they've moved on to the pirate game, so I was just wondering if anything else has come out about other planned materials.

So I think its safe to say we all have kind of hit burnout here. I am probably going to wind down the server next month sometime?
But first, I want to kill the bosses.
So, Saturday, March 9th, I am going to host a boss-killing event, just so we can see the content. Creatures will be spawned in for you, and I will activate some kind of buffs so things aren't crazy hard. We'll do all the titans and then take down the king.
Maybe we can do some high level drops while the settings are high.

I'm on Survival Servers' email distro since I am paying them for a Conan Exiles server, and I got an email from them that said something along the lines of "ARK Homestead now Live!". I wondered what that was because I don't follow ARK news super closely.
I would LOVE a full blown singleplayer ARK with a campaign, enemy tribes to battle against, and a full immersive offline experience. As it stands, ARK isn't for me. I want to like it and there's a lot of good ideas there, but those ideas get buried by a lot of design choices that I just don't care for.
I would also love that. Single player ARK can be fun for a bit, highly modded, but at a certain point its just... I lose motivation.

I guess if all you're doing is teching and building, singleplayer ARK is fine for that. Especially if you adjust tame rates and harvest rates and stuff to a comfortable level.
But I guess what I'm talking about is more along the lines of a campaign. Like with a story. And villains. And evil NPC tribes that have their own bases, dinosaurs, form raiding parties and such.
Basically, take Farcry's open world maps and hostile roaming NPCs and the outpost system, but add ARK to that, and that's what I want.

So, what's our timetable for the March 9th festivities? I've already told the wife it'll be going on, but a start time would be very helpful.
Also, have they fixed the thing where SP saves were being overwritten by Evo saves? Because I'd really kinda like the server save like we've done with the others, but I don't want to nuke my SP Island save.

See, what I'd like in this vein is a first person/third person shooter/spectacle fighter in an open world using the Turok property, including being able to more or less "tame" animals, upgrade weapons (and yourself), etc.
Something that combined Farcry, Shadow of Mordor, and Devil May Cry on top of the building/taming/farming aspects of ARK, more or less.

Well that was fun Mudd! I'd never messed around with the meks before.
Also I hid the supports for the ship. Its no Millennium Falcon, but its a functional base at least and looks better floating there. If I thought we'd keep playing I'd start moving main operations up there but I don't see a reason too at this point. Also apparently there was a bug with wells (thats been fixed) that let you build floating platforms... oh well I missed that, but I'm still happy with my ship hanging in space by invisible walls....
I'm really digging the mek sitting on top of the ship. I had no idea how big they were!
One nice thing about my old base is the vivariums provide a steady supply of eggs to sell for coins that lets me buy mats rather than go gathering... If I'd bothered to empty them once a week or so over the last few months I'd have a vault full of coin by now... My "command center" in the ship has the various mat stations so I can use "nano-element" handwavy-ium to get what I need easily. Seems thematic for a high tech space ship to me
I had some cool upgrades for the ship planned, but I just can't get into it these days. I was going to use the cloning chamber to leave a bunch of babies with stunted growth and toss them in the Terrarium room I'd set up ect... stuff like that.
It was definitely fun to get on and mess around with stuff again though.
There's a bug with the tek elevator teleporters that lets you build floating platforms too, but the concern with using it for an ambitious project is that it might be patched and all of your hard work would come tumbling down.
I currently use the bug grant access to my giga hatchery. The hatchery is built on a cliff platform above my base. Down at ground level I built the teleporter elevator, then I built a set of walls up to the hatchery. The walls let me snap the teleporter elevator into place. Once locked in place, I was free to destroy the walls. So I have one telepad at ground level, and a second floating in mid air several stories up in the sky that just so happens to be a few inches above the surface of the cliff platform.

I am thinking 1pm PST? Unless that doesn't work for a lot of people.

So next boss rush will be... Saturday the 23rd at 1pm again. We'll do the sky titan, then go after the King.
I'll make sure we have some gear prepared for the aerial fight beforehand.
