I think llanowar elves might be one of the worst designed cards. In a mirror playing it on turn 1 vs an opponent who doesn't get it is just game over. Assuming remotely equal skill you could just save time and just decide the game with a coin flip.

In a mirror where your opponent can't ever kill it and you curve out perfectly, sure, but mirror matches tend to be decided on draw order and who had a slightly more optimal hand of cards rather than decision making anyway.
I sincerely doubt it. I think it'll just start with Ixalan, Dominaria, and Core Set 19 (I think all 3 are rotating, yeah?) being in there and they'll add more when/if they have time.
I mean if they are, they should already have amonkhet from the previous beta too.
Adding Amonkhet and Kaladesh is plausible but has some problems. I doubt they want to do a "set release" of old cards for the confusion factor, and Kaladesh specifically and Amonkhet slightly have the problem that they introduce a lot of power to the format they might not want to do; it may be healthier if it just stays as the cards that are currently in the game and grows from there.
I dunno, playing the mirror match over and over again with the deck lists becoming more and more similar the games seem to be decided based on opening hand/who goes first. Dropping either vraska 4 on turn 3 or Viv on turn 4 while your opponent has played 2-3 land ends the game.
Feels like there is less player input and more coin flipping.
One of the things that hearthstone did right was their mulligan. I don't think you could have that in MTG because it would make getting those high rolls more likely.
So, last draft was ok, too. 4-3. Reward got me the lucky 2 packs.
Mythic wildcard in one. Lyra in the other. Thanks game, I guess that makes up for no Teferi.
I actually have enough wildcards for another deck now. I had been shooting heavily toward jeskai, and I still very much want to. However, I am quite worried about being able to do Bo1 with a control deck. I want to get into Bo3 eventually, but I *don't* have enough wildcards for a full sideboard yet (the free Lyra helps a lot).
I also dont have enough rares for the new fancy treasure map version since that's 4 extra rares and I need 2 more Niv.
Anyway, have any of you had some jeskai experience in either format, and do you have any wisdom to share?
Now I'm remembering how a dude went "good game" on a board he had lost, I assume to entice me to attack with everything and "end" it in one turn instead of two. I know I often stay for the kill move if the enemy plays reasonably fast so as to let them complete quests, after all.
So I did, ate a Settle the Wreckage, lost all my dudes. Still won, mind, because I had a couple things on reserve in my hand, but still, please don't act like you're giving up unless you're actually giving up.
Apparently you can run rat colony in singleton? Just faced a deck with all rat colonies.
Hey the card says you can include as many copies as you want! Doesn't matter which format!
It's one of the funnier interactions of the "The rules on the card supercede the rules of the game" rule. I've got a Commander deck (commander decks have to be singleton) with 30 Shadowborne Apostles

That’s one of the reasons I have emotes turned off. If my opponent wants to play mind games they’ll have to do it with their cards.
I am 1-0 in my current draft and whatever happens I have already won. I got to live the dream of Eldest Reborn on their only creature. Then bring back Rona with cycle 3, exiling Eldest Reborn and recasting it to again take out their only creature. I only wish they hadn't scooped, because I also had 2 Sentinel of the Pearl Trident in hand.
Game two I lost to a fine gentleman with that card that makes 1 power creatures unblockable, and he had is onwn Rona shenanigans, too. Very cool deck. But Game Three! I got to Eldest Reborn the Karn that my opponent had milled and then Blink Eldest reborn in response.

Never swing with more than you need for lethal, kids.
Whoops I blinked in Sphinx and now have you dead on board cause you didn’t commit.
(It depends on the situation what you should do, don’t swing all in versus 2 white mana 2 colorless, don’t be tepid versus two U four colorless in the current meta)
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
If someone tells you good game, it is 100% because they are trying to trick you into thinking they don't have settle/vraska/cast down etc in hand. If someone says 'good game' when I have lethal on board, I immediately think what's the worst case they have in hand. I've yet to be disappointed.
And sometimes you might want to attack with more than lethal, but that's when settle isn't an issue but moment of craving/cast down etc might be.
Man, the mana gods are angry today. In about 10 games I have lost 2 games where I had 2 mana on turn 6 and won serveral with the same. Just beat a poor guy who did a mulligan down to 5, and had 1 land to my 6. Also got back to back 1 land hands before and after mulligans.
I feel like at the beginning of the day MTGA rolls a d20 to determine land draws for the day. Today it rolled a critical fuck you all. At least it's hitting my opponents hard today.
Everyone always scoops as soon as I blink the Karn they spent 4 turns killing, or when I cast my 3rd skin witch...
(It is great, I did a draft with my son and he's getting to exile eldest reborn with Sentinal of the Pearl Trident too. We're the most annoying family to play DOM draft against today.)
Guy suspects I have Settle, only attacks with lethal. I Settle. Suspects it next turn, attacks with half his guys. I Settle again. Attacks next turn with his remaining guys. Mission Briefing in to Settle.
Just cackling the whole time.

More often than not, 'good game' means 'please, please, *please* attack with all your dudes into my Settle'. It has saved me a couple of times when I was going to attack with everything and the opponent says 'good game' and then I remember to only attack with what's needed for lethal.
I am not seeing RDW at all today. In fact, each day I seem to be facing them less and less. I wonder what is up with that.
Golgari is popular right now and it's one of RDW's worst machups.
For BO3 yeah
In one offs rdw tends to eat golgaris lunch
This is not my experience. RDW tends to stall out right about when they get me to 5, then I go back up to 20 and eat them.
First rule of Burn vs Golgari - hold a Lighting Strike/Wizard's Lightning to kill the Wildgrowth Walker as soon as it hits the table.
Second rule of Burn vs Golgari - If you can't do that, hope you have a Lava Coil to hit it with when you untap and they drop it on 2 and don't cast an explore creature on the same turn.

Third rule of Golgari. Don't drop your only Wildgrowth walker if you can't drop an explore on the same turn.
Also, drop a ton of llanowar elves beforehand to bait out some removal.
What is this I don't even.

Elves get Shocks. Walkers get Strikes/Lightning. The cool thing about Instants, is that they get to be cast in response to a creature being cast. Your Explore creature doesn't hit the field until the Walker is gone.
Thing is, the deck is stacked in Golgari's favour. Midrange beats Aggro. Control beats Midrange. Aggro beats Control. To vastly simplify things.

Man, every time I dip into ladder and see tubro fog followed by jeskai over and over again I deeply regret it.

Also, yeah, if your deck loses to turn 1 Llanowar, you should investigate.

Depends on how many Wildgrowth + explore you're maindecking vs. reapers/elves/tyrants.
