i was out of town last week and there were all these signs for mothers day and i was like 'shit it must be today i guess' so i called her to say happy mothers day and she was like 'what its next week'
and today she was overseas so i didnt bother with anythin
but i might get her some book during the week
well i had to get my brother a birthday present a few weeks ago and saw at kinokuniya they had a section of books called 'travel literature' which is basically stories about travelling
we are a family that does a bit of travelling, and he has spent like half of the past 5 years in europe so i tried to get something on either germany or like general europe/eastern europe
but man it was almost all about travels in like africa and south america and stuff, and too much written by old dudes which doesnt hold much relevance or interest to a young traveller
since he recently moved out into the city i got him this book of short stories set in kings cross, written by various authors who lived there over the past century
anyway while i was there i noticed a book of short stories set on the indian interstate train system which i think my mother would be interested in and wouldnt be an embarassing to buy like when wevs goes and buys a set of lingerie or whatever he is talking about
last night my brother had a party and i was talking a bit to one of his friends who i dont think ive really talked to before and she asked about my mother and when i said shes overseas she was like 'hey that gets you off the hook tomorrow then huh'
and i was all 'yea its good it makes things much easier' and such and then i remembered that this girls mother committed suicide a few years ago and suddenly worried that it was insensitive and didnt know what to say
For the last 3 years I've seen this thread and thought "shit fuck I forgot it again" and then I remember Mothers day falls on a completely different day in England.
I'm none too quick.

I don't really like Mother's day. Is it Mother's day or Mothers' day?

And I did the whole mother's day thing yesterday, because she wanted to avoid the restaurant crowds. Bennigan's still had crazy waits though.

I buy those 50-cent greeting cards (price point, not rapper) from dollar stores. I'd rather spend the money on a nice present.
