I just finished my first game of Civ VI at King difficulty.
hoo boy, that game rewards momentum with heaps of advantages. I was near the bottom of the score list early on. I always play as Macedonia, and my empire began with the taking of Cree's three largest cities. A crazy huge mountain range made it not worth trying to go after their remaining two, so I then turned my greedy eye on Spain.
Anyway, things were going well, and I had control of most of my starting continent, but man, the other civs across the ocean, on a much larger continent, were all just ahead of me. So I gathered up my forces and began the trek across the sea. The invasion was expensive, but I secured a foothold against Arabia. With their forces in tatters, I conquered the remainder of their cities. At that point things were turning around, and my near doubling of cities under my control put me ahead in science development. I then scored a heroic age.
I took multiple cities from the Aztec and Kongo, stopping my campaign after capturing their capitals. I took a few dozen turns to consolidate, and when I invade Sumeria, who were my main rivals, it wasn't a contest. I had drones providing extra range to my rocket artillery, and my two full armies of modern armour were capturing and razing(At this point, I was going for the win with Domination) a city every turn.
From the declaration of war to the end of the game was maybe 6 turns. On marathon game length.
I think I'm good to try the next difficulty level.

Well started the new year right with a project that took a dump while I was on vacation. I can’t wait for work tomorrow...this sarcasm and stress is going to kill me.
Another year without any mentions in forumer appreciation awwww yeah
"Duke 2.0" this is probably way creepy but I actually think of you fairly often because I don't even know what company you work for so like 50% of the time I see a tour bus downtown I'm like, hm I wonder if Duke is giving people a tour on that very vehicle
When I pass by that rock climbing gym in Crystal City I think about your invitation and get way intimidated. Just gonna make a bad impression as a college dropout with little social experience and difficulty in conversations that'll struggle with the baby wall vs intelligent lawyer who is way more adept with his diverse interests and developed social life. I would just be the disappointing weirdo next to such a hoss. I don't even like Mobas how could I compete.

hello from China folks
I've been in Guangzhou for several days now and so far it has been a good time eating a ton of yumcha and banquets with simonwaifu's extended family, 99% of whom do not speak more than three words of English so I have had a lot of time for self-reflection and talking with the eleven year old kids who are learning English and are forced by their parents to come chat with me
We haven't even gotten that many prolonged stares from random folks on the street
Tomorrow we're off to Taipei so today is going to be crossing off the checklist of things to do in the mainland -- go shopping for clothes for simonwaifu, eat the remaining things I saw from vendors and haven't had a chance to try yet, etc

Ah no way, people I climb with are v friendly--and yes, intimidatingly good at climbing, but I've given up on remotely trying to match their skills or level of social charms, and they just take me as I am, which is great. It's definitely a welcoming environment and very low social pressure cause fundamentally people are there to climb so you don't have to really talk in depth about anything.
I am still trying to figure out what my actual climbing schedule looks like with my new job, but you should still show up and climb a bit with me and @Kamiro (...I swear I'll show up one of the days kamiro is there so I can give your book back...)

vaguely relatedly, I'm watching some amateur announcing/shoutcasting of this dumb tournament I'm playing in, and it's making me think that maybe I could do a better job
not as a play-by-play commentator but as more an analyst type who talks about the different players and matchups and sort of sets up the 'plot' or expectations or storyline for the game
Maybe I should try some time? Might need to wait until I get knocked out of the tournament on Friday (we won our play-in game but as the lowest seed we have to play the team with two masters players and three high diamond players. We don't go higher than plat 4 and our jungler is bronze so....yeah...)
upon reflection I think I will not include this paragraph in the memorial I'm writing for my late cat
why are cats stereotypically associated with supervillains when surely your average real life supervillain wants obedience, a quality not typically associated with cats? I'm just saying there's a reason Hitler was a dog person

I could see you doing this. But I think it is really one of those things you need a partner in crime for the play by play. The best are the color person and the play by play person build off each other.
When I looked into this the takeaway seemed to be that anything adjustable will be good if you adjust it and throwing money at the problem doesn't help

You’re alright. Better than average even.
Do you spread weed butter on stuff or is it standalone? How terrible is the taste?

It's usually used for cooking and ime you can't taste it. In weed-legal states Wana makes gummies with it. Very convenient way to ingest.
It’s a great movie but I don’t think it’s good enough to warrant its own holiday
