Would you cheat on your Barber/stylist?

I've been going to the same Barber for about 15 years by now. She doesn't always give the perfect haircut, but she's MY barber at this point.

How about you?

I wouldn't except I moved so now she's very far away :( she was a really good barber though. If I had been less satisfied with the quality and consistency of her work I'd probably feel less loyal.

Except for when I was away in college, I have had the same hair stylist for 25 years.

    I attended her wedding.

I would never, ever betray that relationship.

I've been cutting my own hair for almost the last 16 years. Prior to that only three people cut my hair and one of them was my tio.

No way, I've had awful hair stylists in the past and I while I've only had my current guy for less than two years I would never leave him. He's the first hair stylist to be really skilled at knowing what suits me and remembers things about my life from last time I saw him. I am loyal to him.

also I've gotten some real bad haircuts from your supercuts and the like in the past so I'm pretty wary of unfamiliar barbers.

We had a barber my whole family went to for about two decades, but we'd switch up who at the shop actually did the cutting every once in a while. I liked the owner because we could always talk baseball but I had to start asking for someone else as a teen because he always gave me the same little kid cut.

I don't know if my current locale even has any independent barber shops do I just mail haircuts in.

I wouldn't have with the barber I had for most of my life. But he retired eventually and the shop he was at closed down. It's been years since and I still haven't found anyone that I am consistently happy with.

My job, up until last October, took me around the world, so I’ve been going to whatever place was nearest to the dockyard for years.

Now I’m in the homeland 24/7 I’ve been going to a barber named Mario who has a trustworthy moustache.

My grandma was a licensed beautician and ran a full salon out of her house so she was my barber for the first 21 years of my life, but then she got sick and then she died.

So now I just go wherever, especially since moving to LA.

If anyone has suggestions for barbers in this city I'd actually be interested in them.

I kinda have to. Been going to a hairdresser for a while here, but she is frequently just not there. Sign says open, door is locked. So I gotta go to this hardass ex marine who disregards any requests and gives me a buzzcut. But last time I was there he relayed to me the tale of a squirrel that had broken in and was living in his house for the past two weeks, which I feel is an appropriate cosmic punishment for consistently ruining my dome.

    Oh brilliant

When I was a kid, I found a barber in Mundaring that I liked, his name was Vince. Then I got older, and I shaved my own head. Then I started growing my hair out (because why the fuck not, right?) and I went to a salon where a girl I used to work with at McDonalds who looks very much like Miranda Kerr had taken her apprenticeship. Now I'm back to shaving my own head.

I've had the same for ages but I enjoy going to new places to see what they do differently. I figure, if it's a bad haircut it'll just grow out again.

I know a few hairdressers personally, and they simply do not care. As long as your hair is being taken care of, they don't give a shit who does it. It'd be like your plumber getting upset that you got someone else in that one time when your toilet cistern sprang a leak.

    They don't care.

I mean, you went back to them. You went somewhere else, and then you went back.

If anything, that's an ego boost.

I haven't had a regular barber since I graduated from high school. His name was Bob, he learned to cut hair in the Navy, and he never asked what kind of haircut you wanted, because the fact that you came to Bob told him exactly what kind of haircut you wanted.

I think the thing that annoys my barber is not going. It means more hair to deal with. Sometimes I'll get sloppy and wait too long for my next haircut and they'll give me a gentle reminder to come in more often.

I go to Sports Clips every six months, and they always seem to enjoy the novelty of cutting five pounds of hair all at once. I think it's the kind of catharsis I would have gotten if I'd been allowed to just completely trash the canned vegetable section on my last day as a grocery stocker.

Oh I have absolutely gotten judgmental comments about this sort of thing before

Not from my current stylist, I suppose

But I've heard the, "Oh, is this a box dye job?" or the, "Clearly someone made a mistake with some of the layering here"

I mean, if they're that insecure they can be catty about it, I suppose. Hopefully your stylist isn't still in high school though.

I used to go to a Supercuts regularly near me but they started pairing me up with a "Stylist" and charged me more then advertised. Dropped them and starting going to a small barber shop that suits me just fine. Good folk.

I found a pretty good barber, he does a decent job on my beard, considering what he has to work with on my face

He does a good job with skin fades and buzz cuts

But we took a break when his schedule was too busy and I went to the shop he used to work at a town over, at his suggestion

All the barbers there were decent too

I was going into wawa a few weeks ago, and there was a guy out front advertising his new barber shop

I don't have any like, hair on the top of my head, but when he saw me he was like "come on by, we'll go crazy with that beard, my man" and gave me a discount coupon

so I think I might visit him, see what visions he has for this foliage
