Okay, Cobra Lash it is but I will keep Venom Gyre around because I need to see how it works and feels, especially against bosses. I also want to try Nightblade support and Plague Bearer but I'll quickly run out of sockets.
40 Uber Elders also finishes your 125 Guardians. You can get 100 Arguses without even finishing the lab run. Then you can just buy your Blighted Maps to finish grinds.
Deadly Encounters requires an Aul kill, which is more about finding him than killing him. Use Blight Oils requires a Golden Oil which will probably be very expensive but not prohibitively so.
Everything else either takes like an hour or two of focused grinding or you'll finish it while doing normal mapping stuff.
Only had time to test a couple things, skitterbots disappointment. Cannot put elemental proliferation on them at all. Infernal Legion can be applied to skitterbots but seemingly bugged. You get the DoT AoE aura visual on them but they deal zero damage to nearby enemies.
I think the mechanic is good but I really like the loot and xp. And holy shit I think Cobra Lash can go places.
Cobra Lash feels great. I'm looking forward to this.
I was 100% expecting tower interaction to require you to move near them, but thank god, that's not the case, you can upgrade/place from anywhere. Loot's decent.
Still haven't decided what league build to play, so far I've only messed around with new gems in standard. Hard to play normally while holding a 6 month old must of the day. Hopefully I'll get some time to start a league character tonight.

Includes Fenmarel's Gloves since that is a substantial dps upgrade eventually. Also different pathing for better damage overall.
I'd also drop Lesser Proj from it the more I play with it since I don't think the skill needs it. Plaguebearer is also mandatory, that skill is great and also solves any aoe or rare/boss clearing issues.

I am really feeling the socket crunch in this zombers build. I have 3 links when I need 5 or even 6. I probably don’t have room for my favorite support (summon phantasm) if I actually want them to take advantage of the AI supports
