Let's try this [chat] OP again, shall we? (UDP etc. etc.)
Diana Deutsch is a prominent British-American psychologist researcher on the psychology of music. She is primarily famous for popularizing various auditory illusions. She "discovered" the scale illusion in 1973.
In the scale illusion, your ears hear a tone ascending and descending, but what is actually being played in your ears are notes that are bouncing around various intervals. Your brain craves patterns, and recognizes the tones as a scale being playing up and down like a set of stairs, rather than notes bouncing back and forth all over the place. If you can read music, you can see it notated below:
The thing is, the illusion is much older than Diana Deutsch's paper on the scale illusion. In fact, there are multiple examples of the scale illusion being used to craft melodies throughout history. Perhaps the most famous example of the scale illusion is Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, also known as the Pathétique Symphony, written in 1893. It was his final finished symphony before he died in 1893, and he conducted it just days before he died.
The violins play meandering pattern of various intervals, but when played together, it forms a smooth descending melody:
You can hear it being played (with scratchy audio) on this old clip from the TV show Nova:

Here, watch a bunch of Korean people play the 6th Symphony (A little on the nose, isn't it? A bunch of Koreans playing classical music?):

Never put on a poll an option you don't want to win (even if you diabolically split it into two separate options)...
