She was 88.

I've been dreading this for a while now; her writing is beautiful and so, so important to me.

Rest in Peace to the greatest American writer of the 20th century.

Her works showed me that humanity may be ugly, but to be human is to be beautiful.

Damn. She was a fantastic writer and a better person.

88 is a good run but the world is lesser now that she is gone.

Other than Beloved, any recommendations for reading among her other works?

Sula was very good, as was A Mercy. I didn't enjoy Paradise as much, but it's a solid book.

The Bluest Eye is her first novel. It's a good read, and a very confident book. Like, with some authors it takes them a bit to find their style, but with Morrison everything that makes her work unique is already shining through from the first page.

I actually picked up Paradise last week and had just started reading it on Sunday. I'm still very early, but it definitely starts out strong imo.
