James Harden wants you and Adam Silver to know that he was NOT at a strip club, he would NEVER do that, and how dare you suggest that his violation of protocol is anything but on the up-and-up.
At this point I kind of want Fertita, being the notorious cheap skate that he is to do the cost benefit analysis and realise he can’t get anything comparable to Harden and just make him play out the rest of his contract.
I know it's not fair to the players who follow guidelines, but if you don't have enough players and it's because one of your players was proven to have broken the rules maybe the game should be a forfeit rather than a postponement.

Agreed...but tv money means they need a certain amount of games I believe. They don't want to start going down that road on day one.
Harden at the strip club is stupid but he's not the reason for the cancellation. Rookie KJ Martin tested positive and all the contact tracing quarantine is from him.
I’m ..... not sure if this is actually a hot take, but Markelle Fultz might have a more valuable career than Ben Simmons
If Simmons gets a jump shot, game over, but I don’t see that happening
this is a literally scorching nuclear level hot take and i don't have any love for ben simmons because he deeply frustrates me.
ben simmons' career vorp is 11.2, markelle fultz' is literally 0.0, replacement level over his career. simmons is an excellent defender and has averaged a box plus minus of 3.5-4, fultz is nothing and has a box plus minus of -2.
this is perhaps the literal worst basketball take in the history of these forums, and i would know, as someone who generally is a garbage take machine because i go on tilt when the sixers disappoint me yet again.

Simmons would be a fantastic forward before the the 2000's. In the modern game, though, he is essentially a point-center on offense and a roaming wing/forward on defense. It's a weird enough mix that it's hard to find the right combination of players to offset his weaknesses and cater to his strengths. Particularly since the actual best player on his team, Joel Embiid, has such a heavy overlap with him on both ends of the floor with the exception that Embiid can actually bang in the post consistently and somehow has a better outside shot, too.
Simmons makes entire swaths of the NBA offensive playbook entirely useless. You can't run a triangle or even triangle-like side sets because he has no outside shot to occupy two of the points or force a switch on the screen. You can't run a pick-and-roll with him as the ball-handler half the time because he, again, is not a threat to do anything other than roll, which means the other person in the action always has to be a potential outside threat or defenses will simply collapse on both players. You can't put him in the actual paint at the same time as Embiid because they will just get in each other's way, forcing the latter to play outside when he is clearly the better player on the inside between the two of them.
If you tried something drastic like playing small with Simmons at center, you will quickly run into the problem that all small lineups do - the player nominally at center can't consistently bang on the inside against larger players. Not only is his effort inconsistent when he's forced to defend in the paint regularly, bit he simply doesn't have the mass to compete, particularly against the more-skilled big men who have better post games. So you can only do this so many times against so many teams, and certainly not in the playoffs where it matters most.
It's actually kind of sad that he literally refuses to shoot outside of 15 feet. It would be one thing if he shot and was terrible, but he just outright refuses to shoot the ball entirely. The psychological hang-ups involved are likely massive and not something that can be easily fixed. Which is unfortunate because if all he did was add a league-average jumper and a mediocre 3-pointer, you could make the case that he would be a Top 10 player in the league.

Holy—- I didn’t even remember making this post but I’ll own the shame
The Blazers are making me sad. If their defense can't improve after the off-season they had, I might finally start being sympathetic to these calls for Stotts' job.

I would be shocked if this deal is being discussed, but I can't imagine and ostensible upgrade that would enrage a fanbase more than a Dame for Harden trade.
Well Steph Curry has never in his life been more "in the zone" than he was last night, so I imagine the defense helped him somewhat. Not to mention the Blazers were already in the bottom 5 of defense heading into that game, which I don't think we can write off as Steph Curry in the zone.

Also, NBA Twitter continues to be undefeated.
Edit: Awww, he deleted it. Fun Silver/Harden imaginary exchange.

That's an interesting way to say Ben Simmons.

But that clip is great, no matter their current state.

We are starting week 2 because we were late to fill the league.
James . . . man, look, if this is because somebody told you about the strip clubs per capita thing, I swear to god . . .
Per capita is the key there. Portland metro has a population of 2.1 million. Atlanta metro is 5.8 million
Atlanta and Houston both have more strip clubs than us, but we have (or had, pre-pandemic) more strip clubs per person by a country mile
Sure, but it's Atlanta.
