I have determined the problem is that the motherboard i purchased has one bad ram slot, AND, one of the sticks of ram was bad, AND, one of my motherboards (the original one) is bad (not the one I purchased), AND the PSU I was going to use is bad after testing literally every possible component and then a little voice saying "hey why dont you try it with one stick of ram in the first board?"
which puts me back to the beginning where I should have just purchased an entirely new computer
not to mention I left it to my roommate to buy a case and HS/Fan and he bought a goddamn giant glass tower full of RGB and bullshit and a hyper evo 212 which is the most infuriating heatsink on the market to affix to a motherboard, so now there's a 20 pound monstrosity taking up valuable living room space, I just don't have the energy to tell him what I really think of his decision making and just gave him the money for it

I sent in an audition for some voice acting for an indie game. Who knows how that'll go but I'm pretty happy I actually sent it in. I think I have a good shot because I think my voices are pretty good, but I guess we'll see!

Is it that Unknown USB Device actually?
I know sometimes my wireless 360 dongle stops getting properly read and I have to manually select the driver for it.
It seems to be related to that (since that shows up when I plug the controller in), and the events for that and the XBox One Controller have an entry saying "Device not migrated" when I plug it in.
Yeah try right-clicking the unknown USB and manually assigning the drivers to it. Just find the most recent Xbox One Controller drivers selectable.
This didn't seem to be an option; I could navigate to the folder that the Xbox One Controller drivers were in via the Update Driver option, but had no way to actually select specific drivers (and Windows insisted everything was up to date).

This seems to have gotten rid of the Unknown USB Device popping up when I plug the controller in, but alack the controller itself is still nonfunctional. It shows up in Device Manager, Windows says it's working fine, but nothing else recognizes it as being there.

this thing is not a gimmick, it fucking rules
yes, it does the super heavy drone-y doom thing that Sunn O))) is known for
but it's probably the most diverse dirt pedal on the market
running dirt alone, boost alone, or both just offers a ton of options for a single box
it does make realize a few things
1) the pickups in my mustang are just underpowered dogshit - i've been meaning to replace them for a year+ but a pedal with this much power onboard makes just highlights how little they add - going to place the order with dimarzio in the next week or so
2) i need an expression pedal - the octave control is a nice handy sometimes-feature, but i also have a reverb and a delay pedal with expression inputs so i should figure this out

For real I'm from the south so Jone Smithy is basically cheating. I need to work on other voices that aren't just southern accents, but I have other planets and encounters planned where it's not all southern accents but instead other accents! Assuming you guys don't die here.
