I need help to prove I’m not lying to my girlfriend

youdontknowmeyoudontknowme Registered User new member
My girlfriend thinks I’m lying to her, I can’t say it’s not for good reason (I’ve lied to her in the past) but I stopped a while ago and I want to regain her trust.

There isn't an easy answer to this. Rebuilding trust is a challenge under any circumstances, and that she knows you've lied before makes that even harder.

It depends on a lot of factors, how old you two are, how long you've been together, how major was the lie/betrayal, etc. Obviously this isn't like "no, I totally didn't watch that episode of a show we said we'd wait to watch together", but off the cuff I'd say you need to strive to show you're trying to change. You can't just say you'll do better and expect it to be believed (and since you didn't give us much to go on, I'm keeping it general); keep your word. Get in touch when you say you will, make your schedule available, try to show transparency.

That isn't to say you can't make mistakes (missing a text or something) or have to give up any shred of privacy, but again, in general, try to show through actions that you've changed, not just words. It's easy to argue until you're both blue, but tangible actions are a better indicator.

It's hard to give advice without more details, but I can tell you right now that trust is a very difficult thing to rebuild once it is broken.
