What is it?
Suikoden devs decided they want to relive their glory days and set about to make their own Suikoden spiritual successor, using the framework fans and devs loved from the PS era (Suikoden 2) while being inspired by the visuals of Octopath Traveler and mechanical possibilities found in modern JRPGs. You're going to see your non-standard weapon wielding main character, six-person party, 108 100 stars of destiny heroes, fortress building, wars, etc.
A Kickstarter campaign for Eiyuden Chronicle will open on Monday, July 27 (no linking it in this thread) and run throughout the month of August, seeking $500,000 in funding for a PC version. A stretch goal will be in place for additional PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Switch (or current Nintendo console) versions. The planned release is currently set for 2022.

Bloodstained, Pillars, Wasteland, Divinity. . .(those are just the ones I've paid for).
I mean I can see being wary of Kickstarted games, but folks who actually know what they are doing and have a background in the industry can do some pretty great things.

Me, I'm a sucker for Suikoden, and if they tell me that teaser is what the actual battles are going to look like then I am in.
As someone who also funded some delivered flops like Hex and Children of Zodiarks, uhhhhhhhh. I might... wait... to give them money. It’s a toss-up for me right now.
The expected release date is what gets me hesitant. Fall 2022 is a ways out, and thats likely to get bumped to 2023 or later because the caliber of talent behind the game and the love for Suikoden is such that this will get stretchgoaled into oblivion.

Town exploration video definitely shows the Octopath Traveler graphical inspiration and there is a slightly longer version of that boss battle video.

From reading their Kickstarter it seems like they have a really good plan in place and have already been working on potential publishing partners.

Wonder if they are going to make him out to be a vegetarian? I'd love to see him be one of the cooks for the castle and specializing in meat dishes made out of every single monster you encounter, but I guess that could just be another Impershi'arcarian addition to the roster.
