Caught Symphony X, Haken, and Trope this evening. Standouts were trope and symphony, former sounds a lot like early-mid tool, latter is, of course, symphony x. Fantastic show, finished with odyssey, and the weather was only mildly hellish.

I'm kinda bummed I wasn't able to make hitting one of those shows happen last month, it would've been my 5th time seeing SymphX and 7th time catching Sir Russel live (seen him twice with Trans-Siberian Orchestra), but glad to hear they still pump out Odyssey as an encore. They closed with it twice and twice with Divine Wings at the concerts I've attended.
Last time I saw them also had one of my favorite interactive moments as an audience member. I was riding the rail slightly stage right between Romeo's floor monitor and Russ's mic stand and I went full belt during the opening lines of When All Is Lost and finished with a ornamental decending run that everyone on that side of the stage heard and it got me a short round of applause from Mike and huge grin from Russel.

I'd kind of like to check out that Haken/Symphony X show next Saturday, but I have no idea if I'll be up for it by then. I've had the pleasure of seeing Haken live once, at least. I'm not a huge fan of Symphony X, but I've enjoyed Russell Allen's work with Arjen Lucassen a lot.
Whew. I was having a hard time finding the Hooded MenaceEffigies of Evil CD at a decent price, to finish my collection of their full-lengths. It's obviously OOP and inflated, but managed to get a copy off Discogs from the UK for a twenty. Thank the powers for reasonable metalhead vendors and distros.
Not always super into these guys, the blitzing speed and mechanical nature of how they write can be a turn-off, and I don't always dig the production; but I do admire how they keep this new album so melodic and lose none of the absurdity. In fact a lot of the melodies feel like something Nile should or could use.
Does anyone know if it's possible to embed a Bandcamp player into a post on these forums? It's nice that we can do it with Youtube videos, and I feel like having the same thing with Bandcamp would be very helpful for us.
Amazing to see, wish they would just get the original band back together, nothing against the few good records they've done since then. Although they're probably even tighter with these guys in the lineup.

In other news, that new Soreption has GOT to be the tech death record of the year, it's like the natural evolution of the styles Decapitated and Necrophagist were pushing, pinpoint accuracy in the grooves, mechanical precision meeting quality riffs and atmospheric leads.

Hey guys, what are your recommendations for CD storage solutions? Recently moved into a new place and don't really have an area to place my 2-3 boxes worth of CDs outside of stacking them on the floor.

These 500-CD racks are even more expensive now than when I bought two of them 8 years ago, but I've been happy with my purchase. I'm honestly surprised that place is still in business! I already had a cheaper 500-CD rack which I bought sometime in the late 90s at Best Buy or whatever which also works pretty well.
Unfortunately, we are out of room once again. Got them crammed into a hallway. Here's a picture from 3 years ago, but the scene is pretty much the same.
I'm dreading having to buy a bunch of those when I move to a bigger home, I'll probably need 6-7 of that size, but right now my CD collection is in chaos, I have a giant old dresser which holds most of them, but they can't all be displayed properly, and then I have some old plastic wall racks that hold about 100 each along with all my old PS1 and Dreamcast games.
Just keep the shelves uniform and organized the best you can. Honestly what SteevL posted isn't too bad. There are some cheapo shelves on Amazon you can get for like $110 that hold over 1000 each, use some extra screws and hinges to reinforce them because they probably aren't too strong.
I think Fearmeister or someone already posted this, either that or this is ANOTHER AWESOME 90s symphonic black metal throwback with a purplish or blue cover. This slays.
And you're about to have an even better one...the new Inanimate Existence will be streaming soon at this link, and it's a tech death banger with a lot of versatility.

Yep, it's meant as audio accompaniment to an exhibit for Edwvrd Munch, the painter. Kind of reminds me of the experimental album Ulver did way back for William Blake, though they don't sound the same.

Sasquatch has a new album out. Stoner metal. All together a tight album with nice riffs.
