How can I get connected to local potatoes in my area?

From 1986 to 1990, Wright appeared in the sitcom ALF as Willie Tanner, a typical father of a middle-class family, who finds an alien who has crash-landed on Earth. Despite becoming his best-known performance, the actor despised the role due to its huge technical demands and the fact that he, a human, played a supporting character for an "inanimate object". "It was hard work and very grim", he stated in a 2000 interview to People.[8] He was also, reportedly, very happy when the show was canceled in 1990. "I was hugely eager to have it over with", he said in the same interview. According to his co-star in the show, Anne Schedeen, "there was one take, and Max walked off the set, went to his dressing room, got his bags, went to his car and disappeared. Nobody had to say, ‘Wrap,’ and there were no goodbyes".

I'm kind of over Destiny now

like going around exploring, looking at everything, taking a billion screenshots ("Oh, this hallway! what a hallway!") has somewhat lost its lustre

but I've gone ahead and done the mistake of deciding I want to get a character to 1060 power level

currently, that means there's hardly any way around the Iron Banner. And it's got some weapons and armor that drop rarely that look cool and I am all about collecting shit.

maaaan fuck the multiplayer in this game. Like occasionally it is fun, but those moments get quickly interrupted by me going "eehhhhh..."

supers and power weapons are bad for multiplayer shooting.

Iron Banner uses your power level and you'll be at a disadvantage if you're lower.

yeah, and that's also a really bad idea, methinks.

I'm 1062 now, because of the +12 season artifact bonus

but it's... well, many aspects of it is bad, and a lot more are just the kind of multiplayer shooter I usually do find pretty boring, and some aspects the kind I really hate

    in order, plain bad:

    supers, special weapons, power weapons:

when someone with a super shows up, or someone with a shotgun, or with a machinegun out, it's just, oh, well, I guess I'll die, because what can you do. Blech.

small, short matches of just running around all the time I find pretty damn boring, usually. There's been the occasional good match where I'm engaged, but rarely. I'm just kinda bored with match based shooters of the "run all around" type.

also when you see people hopping from side to side or just compulsively twitchy it's really annoying to me.

I'm not even sure why I'm doing this

like I kinda got into now just because oh, they're cutting out half of the locations (all the ones I like the best) I want to see and document what I like about them before they go

but now I'm gathering gear, which is kind of a silly thing to do, because they're also making basically all of it obsolete soon

Yeah you might not like destiny pvp then, there's a lot of powers and supers. Hunters have a dodge that literally lets them twitch to the side. The power weapons at least require fighting over ammo, and crazy shotguns are very ammo limited. Watching radar is super important but Iron Banner is below Trials in "endgame pvp" activity, so there's often a ton of 6 stacks rocking through wasting solo queue people.
I never expect to win destiny pvp, I just turn on a show and mute the game while I do my best to finish up bounties and I've had a lot of fun doing that.

no I don't mean the dodges, I mean like people compulsively tapping a and d all the fucking time

I've never been keen on games where that is like, how you're supposed to do a firefight, because it feels and looks dumb

also teammates who seriously compulsively move about all the time drive me up the wall

played gambit prime just now, like half my fucking rounds went into the back of the head of this spanish name guy because he had to move about like a rubber ball in a washing machine

just calm down you tweaking iberian fuck

(also, no, I don't, that is my conclusion from having played quite a lot of it over the past few weeks - I don't really like this, and I kinda wish I didn't "have to" to get where I'm going.)

fighting over the ammo isn't a bad mechanic

but still I don't like that when you're faced with someone with it, it's just welp, I'm fucked

    ftOqU21.png
  • SniperGuySniperGuy SniperGuyGaming Registered User regular
Oooooh the tweaking back and forth thing is entirely because of sniper rifles. There are an awful lot of insanely good people at insta headshotting you so staying mobile is important.

But hey if it's not your style it's not your style. In general I like it but I never really do it for funsies, just to get quests done. But the progression is fun for me.

there's a lot of very pretty guns though

and very cool locales. I fucking adore Titan. The very Bungie look of the platforms - it, and Mars, is very much like seeing their environment design from everything human in the Halo games. it's very Bungie. They've got - or had - someone with a great nose for the kind of details that make everything very grounded but futuristic.

and the Arcology on titan is just, oh, god, so gorgeous. Shame Titan is so small.

IB is particularly bad right now imo. It's been a bad week for matchmaking and 6 stacks rolling people. It will probably clear up a bit later in the week.

And yeah, Destiny has not solved the perpetual problem of multiplayer FPS where a pro-tier move is constantly twitching up-and-down and side-to-side like a coke-addicted toddler.

It is a spiritual successor more than a direct sequel. The game has a really great attract mode. I was watching it on the emulator. It ups the resolution just enough.

They should have put it on the PS1 Classic. It would have sold like hot cakes.

There are so many weird games on the PS1. Firing up an emulator and digging into my collection has made me all nostalgic.

I never played Destiny 1, yet I really miss having different legions, different fallen houses, and vex variants (although there are still a few vex variants around, with strikes and adventures on mercury. the precursor-present-descendant vex designs are just cool as hell!)

I'm very, very sick of the colour purple

also, fuck the Taken. It's such boring design. And they don't fit in almost anywhere they are.

There are other cabal, but they're mostly in the Leviathan/Menagerie. I could never tell the Fallen Houses apart but I'm relatively sure they're around? I don't know for sure. There's at least one new one if you do Zero Hour!
