I think it's in their interest that ARAM-only players return to SR (or learn to SR, I guess, if they started ARAM only), so that may be by design.
Although that's just a hypothesis. However I would guess that an SR player with a few mains 1. buys more skins; 2. has higher engagement due to the competitive mindset. Although on the other hand, SR is almost certainly 10x more toxic than ARAM, so playing SR risks burnout and quitting (so, the opposite of player engagement and skin money). Dunno! If I were a strategy consultant at Riot though I'd be thinking about how to nudge ARAM folks into SR at least once in a while.

Your theory doesn't quite track with the fact that they patched in the ability to earn chests and mastery tokens in ARAM a few patches ago. I think they are just fine with aram only players earning shit at an irregular clip.

Okay, nevermind, I actually completed a milestone on a character and it didn't count towards the chest reward. Looks like they may have updated the text on the tooltip and it has to be from the Mastery Set. At least for the first reward.
So far, the big takeaway I have gotten from this patch/split is that I might need to start banning Samira. Have had *way* too many games where she just popped off and 1v5'd teams.

Chests have actually been available in ARAM for as long as I've been playing (~2020), the relatively recent change was just adding mastery tokens to the mode.
i think if i ruled the world, the one change i would make to league is the instant you flamed in aram they would permaban your account and hardware.
it's wild.

As someone whose been playing league on and off since the alpha, for the past 2 or 3 years all I play is aram with chat turned off *shrug*. On the bright side I don't really care about skins etc. so no changes they make will affect me
the tippy top version of faker's ahri skin (which, I am not sure if this is the same skin with more evolutions a la that one seraphine skin, but locked behind paywall?) is 59260 league bux
i think it’s 500? either way it’s crazy, especially that even the “mid” tier bundle with the immortal skin which is basically the ultimate one is still 300 dollars.
they’ve done stupid expensive bundles before but it’s never been for a base skin, just like a chroma or specific little things.
I gotta admit, making a $500 skin as tribute for a player who famously never uses anything besides the default skin is kinda funny

maybe, but support requires you to play alongside the most unhinged member of any given league of legends team.
i have like an 80% winrate whenever i play poppy support but it's just not worth the mental damage, and i say this as someone who plays pretty much only jungle.

just a different kind of brain poison required. as jungle you're the target of everyone's blame, but at least you generally can just play the game and not worry about it that much. but support you have to play around your adcs plays in lane and i just hate it haha.
i'd like to be able to solo lane but i'm just too passive and lose every single lane.

i wasn't paying attention in draft and someone offered to trade me, and i'm jg so whatever i don't really care, i accepted it and i learned that riot lets you trade way way later in the clock than they should lol, ended up dodging because i couldn't find my champ in the 3 seconds i had to pick.

i had been doing well and now i'm 3-7 in my last 10 with 2 of the wins being on backdoors we got stomped in. just 9 games that have been almost entirely noncompetitive top to bottom. it's just so unfun.
farm forever, hope your team doesn't lose, if you're ahead at 8-10 minutes you win.
but she has absolutely no presence early game and you have zero capacity to stem any bleeding especially pre-6 in bot lane so if your laners die twice before level 6 you basically autolose the game. with adcs so wildly overpowered right now it's incredibly difficult to have much say on the game as lillia, as if your laners win you're a gigantic force multiplier coming out of the jungle and can basically finish the steamroll, but if anything goes bad you're up shit creek and are going to lose.
up to 9 straight losses, and if you don't include the two backdoor games, it's like 15+ straight it goes off the screen because i played some aram.
idk man i just can't even get a single lane that wins on it's own. nothing works, i am always getting collapsed on no matter what my laners are. like veigar with no prio is outrotating a zed to the river and it's just like this is so incredibly doomed every single game.

like i just got a game with a leblanc who had 8 deaths and got gigastomped in lane against lux, and then my next game had yasuo support. how am i supposed to play these games man.
Have you tried fiddle? He is the ultimate "I don't care how bad my team is, I can still carry this game" champ. Point and click cc is also quite strong in a meta of master yi and khazix.

i pretty much am only decent on lillia and poppy, and poppy has been basically removed from the jungle which really hurt because poppy was my go to champ for when i lost the plot.
