Oh, something else I wanna point out - even though I don't share Aistan's takes on the game, I find it genuinely interesting to read those takes, to examine what my reaction to those takes says about my own takes.
Because it encourages such personalized reactions, because it reflects so much of what the player does or doesn't bring into it, I find talking about it to be way more interesting than many conversations about games. I can only spend so much time thinking/talking about how a game feels to play, but I could spend AGES talking about how a game feels to feel.
Yeah, chatting with Aistan I can't really fault what he was saying as we were both playing.
I also enjoy people pointing out things in games that don't work. Makes me consider things I took for granted or could be irritating in an experience.
I just want new RDNA2 numbers to fill my brain as soon as possible so AMD fanboying can overwhelm me
even if it will probably be about two more hardware cycles before I actually upgrade my GPU at all since this 5600XT is more than plenty for daily life at 1080p
On September 17, the price for Game Pass on PC will double, rising from $4.99 / £3.99 to $9.99 / £7.99, as Microsoft has confirmed on Twitter. Existing members will still “pay the same rate through the next billing cycle”, so you won’t immediately see the price increase unless you’re a new subscriber.
It’s still a solid price for what Game Pass offers, and the announcement comes shortly after Microsoft revealed that EA Play will soon become part of the subscription. That means that games like The Sims 4, Titanfall 2, and Battlefront 2 will soon be part of Game Pass, as well as 10-hour trials for new titles like Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21.
It's still a good deal, but raising it by the cost of EA Play in order to include EA Play whether you want it or not is pretty annoying. Mostly because I already subscribe to EA Play and now I have to deal with canceling it elsewhere since I'm going to have to pay for it through Game Pass. Which means I'll have to redownload the games I already have installed through EA Play through Steam, and I'm not thrilled about that because we've been within about 50 gigs of our data cap each of the last 2 months and now both of our kids are using Zoom for 4-6 hours a day for school. Meh.
Gamepass was going to go to $9.99/month from the get-go. It clearly stated it in the terms.
I'm surprised it took this long for the price of Game Pass to increase. The service is good enough that I'd probably pay twice that (not that I WANT to, mind you).
Guessing it's too late to pre-buy a bunch of months at the current price?
IIRC the best deal is still:
- Get yourself close to 3 years of Xbox gold: $60/year Msrp (5/month)
- Upgrade your account to Game Pass Ultimate
- It converts all your existing Gold time into GPU time. You now have gold, game pass console, and game pass pc for 3 years
Just doing the tutorial dude, but it's been neat slowly getting claims to enough of Ireland to create the Kingdom, which let me change succession law to the traditional tanistry method which has powerful vassals vote for an heir of my dynasty instead of it automatically being my grandson for some reason.
This means I can spend my five votes on my awesome daughter to be my heir while all the others split their votes amongst rando cousins. Fuck you, Catholics and your refusal to allow female heirs. Also the like, fifteen other barriers in place to changing that succession rule under partition.
How is 3's tutorial anyway. I heard it was improved over prior ones and made me hopeful ck3 might be a game I just play badly, instead of can't even figure out like 2 lol

Having no previous Crusader Kings experience, I'd say that the tutorial is pretty good.
My only other experience with a Paradox game is Stellaris, which I stopped before finishing the tutorial because it seemed too complicated.
Is the cost of Game Pass for PC going up, or is it just the XBox version?

The tutorial is CK3 is much better
I will say there is a fair amount of stuff it doesn't directly cover, but the game has a good in game encyclopedia and nested tooltips and such to help with the gaps

Man, Amazon may be a shitty ass company in general, but they just replaced my faulty Razer Wolverine TE controller again with 0 hassle.
I got first got one almost 2 years ago, and after 11 months the left bumper broke; They sent me a free new one the next day, and let me return the broken one later. Now almost a year after that the replacement has a faulty A button (it doesn't register maybe 1 in 10 times and it's getting worse) and again, a free repacement will be here tomorrow.
I guess they just have the clout to easily get their money back from Razer when they send them the broken one or something, so they don't care. If I'm scamming them, they can just charge me for the replacement.
They offered me a refund, but I got the first one for "only" (lol) £77 and I need a controller with back paddles and the extra bumpers (and I love the way this one is laid out), and its rare to get them for less than £100-£150.
Atomicrops is launcing on Sept 17th and you can play it for free until then!
Farm, marry, and kill your way to the ULTIMATE post-apocalyptic farm when Atomicrops sows itself on Steam and GOG.com, September 17th!
All the frantic-farming and post-apocalyptic action is getting ready to hit the platform with barrels-loaded and fertilizer ...err... pretty stinky at this point, tbh.
Catch the absolute farming mayhem when it launches on Steam & GOG.com!
Want to try before you buy? Atomicrops is running a free preview on Steam! Head to THE PREVIEW PAGE to grab your copy that will be active until launch day on the 17th!
I think the crusader kings 3 tutorial was very well done and also very quickly taught me that crusader kings 3 probably ain’t the game for me.
I may give it one more shot but even a more streamlined version of the game just kinda reminded me I don’t really like to play 4X games. I will live vicariously through y’all’s cool stories of that game.
Crusader Kings 3 has a good enough tutorial that shows you what buttons vaguely do what and how to move some of the levers so you're not completely lost.
You'll still have to do a good amount of figuring out on your own but the tool tips are good.
The real star for getting you into it is the little "hey here's 5 tasks that probably could use attention" organizer the game gives you. So if you're ever unsure or think you just want to hit speed 5 to get enough money for a war/whatever big thing you can instead just look at that and go "I DO need my bishop to like me, thanks for reminding me game" and work on that.
The issues bar keeps telling me that one of my vassals is the de jure ruler of my capital city and that I should give it to him, but I'm not allowed to give away my capital city so I don't know what they want from me

Sounds like someone needs to be given the business end of a sword for trying to rule your capital city.

After powering it up, the first thing I did was attempt to uninstall the McAfee pre-loaded software.
It then crashed my computer and forced me to reformat the entire machine before I could get it started it again.
Steam: MightyPotatoKing
I dunno but I just reupped my PC pass for a buck, even though I'd already had done that twice, so uh... huh.
Yay.
And did something very stupid with it that makes me so happy

The doubling in price is for PC. Console was already at that level.
Chronos: Before the Ashes is a prequel to Remnant: From the Ashes
also THQ Nordic kinda sucks

maybe do that and then give it to him?

Yeah I thought of that but I couldn't figure out where I could do that

Isn't that the tag line for Crusader Kings in general?
I thought that was "Kill Your Family: The Game"
Ubisoft also kinda sucks
