Can't wait to see the new ways they can deliver severe depression to gamers
Nier Automata had a very positive uplifting thing to it, I thought
Though I was not a fan of it
it had that really hopeful ending, which most people seemed to have loved and which I fully did not buy after having played through the rest of the game. The events of 97% of that game were absolute despair and grief, I cannot then be swayed by 3% of "try one more time and it can be better"
I was so beaten down by it
I know other people love it and I'm honestly glad they do, but holy shit it didn't land for me
it works for me because yeah that 97% is beating you into the dirt with despair,
but then that final 3% is "and it's still worth it anyways "
A detail that is difficult about works that want to say "Shit sucks, but _____" is that you need to show that you actually understand that shit sucks. You need to tell people who think shit sucks that they are seen. Most stories do the equivalent of "Orange man bad. #Resistance" to express that in a very hollow way. Nier attempts to tell a story that, despite its science fiction flashbang pizzazz and intense horny, is also creating some very personal tragedies for the characters, that they don't get easy outs to and have to just wallow in. The line for whether that feels like it lands the "shit sucks, I know" delivery, or crosses over to misery porn, is going to be different for each person. But I would consider it a core component of the overall "essay" that Nier's story is and what its conclusion is, the supporting evidence to back up some points.
I got excited about the Vampires game in the thread title but it looks like another Coteries VN rather than the full featured game I thought it was.
I'm actually playing Coteries at the moment and it's quite enjoyable to enjoy the fluff of the Vampire the Masquerade world, but so far there isn't a ton of depth to it besides the writing.
Powers are a text option, but it seems like you have all of them.
Having an entire game's tone and feeling totally upturned and it's theme's crystallized during a fucking credits sequence is a real power play
That shit made me cry as names and companies scrolled across the screen
I made the mistake of going "hell no I'm not deleting my save game, I want to get more endings after the credits roll!". Then the credits finished and I was "ya know, I think I'm good. There's no way playing this longer could improve it".
As Far As The Eye is supra-inhuman-cool buuuuut i do have one bitch
I wish there was a better way to tell your ibbles apart. The balloon doesn't do it for me. Also, I want a LOT more unlockables, right now there's just 3.

I feel like the ending of Nier: Automata is like aggressively absurdist given certain specific lines, but I mostly see people call it an existentialist work.
Though I've never seen difference between optimistic nihilism, absurdism, and existentialism as really being all that readily discernible in a work of fiction that's not getting into the weeds of its philosophy, and might just see it as absurdist because I like absurdism the most as an honest description of living in a meaningless universe.

oh dang Cap can you smile for me buddy? Are you experiencing any arm weakness? Do you smell toast?
My brain froze for a moment, stuck between flinching and closing the tab like I'd just jumpscared myself and laughing out loud at the absurdity before it settled on the latter.

Finished all the Deus Ex: MD DLC
Desperate Measures:
Very short, should've probably been in the main story, but was neat, just more deus ex.
set just after the bombing
System Rift:
An introduction to the Breach mode that probably should've had similar in the main story, but other than that its pretty good, a little short.
Set before flying off to GARM
The return of Pritchard, a small hub to explore before off on another bank heist, good optional objectives
Criminal Past:
Best of the three, whole new setting, feels like it was more stealth oriented, good story, more kind of what i expected from the other two.
Set before Mankind Divided Story,
Prison was cool, the whole organ harvesting thing was gruesome, bit too heavy on the stealth, but limited ammo, scrounging weapons etc was fun.
I took the strange mans drugs and i think i caused a perhaps avoidable riot?
Lotta fucking cameras though, jeez
Toward the end i think i had a bit too much and just said "fuck it" and started sprinting through areas
The Baron's wife is dead. An entire town is in ruins. And to top it all off, the Baron hung himself.
I really fucked it up here. I'm tempted to reload but there are several references to "the orphans are safe now" which makes me think the other option involves a bunch of dead kids.

Just had an epic fight to the death situation where it's down to my heavily damaged Marauder /w Dekker and Victor /w Behemoth slugging it out against a full lance of reinforcements.
Eventually my side barely came out on top but I realized that I still have a mission to accomplish (Destroy facilities). Dragged my broken ass mechs over there, Dekker managed to take out one before running out of machine gun ammo (dang it I should have went with full instead of half.) Thankfully Behemoth still have a bunch of missiles left to finish off the final building.

No Behemoth

Death by Light Standard Turret
Thankfully I have decided to not go through the game ironman style for my first campaign playthrough because there are just too much variables for my inexperienced ass to handle
edit:
Withdrew to see if anyone actually made it
Of course the only pilot with 9 guts have to be the only one to die, of course

No I cut all the logos off my clothing for entirely different reasons
Now ask what wicker man is

@geth please post the beehive man
PC/Switch cross-save will not be available at Hades' launch

Warning, what is seen can never be unseen, as Brolo will attest.
I clicked on this thinking "it's a video game glitch, those are funny, I have never been disturbed by one in my lifetime, this'll be no different"
Do not make the mistake I made
