I gotta start reading the front page again
Roughly ten thousand years ago, Gabir and I met a couple youths at our San Diego Comic Con booth, introduced by their mother, to whom we stressed that her children were too young for what we do. She seemed to understand this also, but also understood her sons, and that was it. I kept in touch off and on with one of them, who gravitated toward games in a design capacity. Last time we spoke it was near the end of a Board Game portion of his oeuvre, and our conversation + the kind of shadow that hung from his brow indicated that maybe it wasn't going to work out. I've held onto that for years.

At a socially distanced synchronization with Kris Straub, of Local 58 fame, I happened to see this kid walking by, though I guess the term would almost certainly be Man now, and apparently the game he'd been working on - Going Under - had just come out. I'd played an early version submitted to the PAX 10 some time ago, and it was clever, but also very early. It now has a Very Positive rating on Steam, which is very hard to maintain. Well, hard to maintain if it weren't good, perhaps My eldest has defeated the game at about the same age this other dude was when I met him. Having a natural weakness for symmetries like these, I commissioned a formal assessment from said larva. Without further adieu, the revieu. I have resisted any urge to editorialize but it is QUITE STRONG.

    (CW)TB out.

That shot of Dave's dodge is -good shit-

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure this is proof that Dave is pretty much in Ki Rata mode all the time. I don't think he needs to actually to do the little stances he's done before in the comic.

Solomon is definitely the sort of person to dodge out of the way so that instead a bunch of his people are killed

But only as in how their well-being proves how good a king he is, I think.

To be fair I rarely notice any powerful people in media take notice of what's behind them when doing a Cool Dodge

I mean even if Dave didn't dodge, those people were probably still gonna get killed. That attack didn't seem like it would just stop at Dave.

And nah, I think Dave genuinely cares about his people as people. Not as a measuring stick for his own goodness.

I think he cares about his people but its rooted in his desire to prove that he is strong enough to protect his family and also strong enough to go further down the path of royalty.

That he cares about his people and also uses them to measure his virtue dick are not mutually exclusive.

Yeah, the key is "his" people. They are a replacement for his family. Kinda like John Wick's dog.

That he cares about his people and also uses them to measure his virtue dick are not mutually exclusive.

I think he uses the "law and order" nature of his empire, along with the stability and relative peacefulness of it, to measure his dick against the other demiurges. I think at one point we're told straight out that Dave sees his empire as the true successor to Zoss's empire.

I can't really tell but it looks like Dave is a bit teary-eyed in the last panel, while also being super fucking pissed. When it comes to the people in his Empire, I think Solomon really does want them to not have to deal with the shit that -he- had to. I think he actually loves the people in his empire, in his own twisted way.

Also talking about family, I'm pretty sure Solomon's just got wiped off the face of the earth, again, when Jag entered. So once again another Demiurge has taken a family from Solomon. That's gotta sting at least a bit.

i feel like the most recent update is pretty good evidence that Solomon will do a cool dodge but is not particularly invested in putting himself in harms way to protect people

I like that Solomon managed to go from an antagonist to a protagonist without actually changing as a character at all.

Solomon is not a protagonist of the story.

he has turned his attention away from Allison to a greater threat at the moment, but he's not a protagonist because the story's still not about him

Jadis's vision could be interpreted as all the demiurges and Alison teaming up against Zoss.
