There's not. My understanding is that while impeachment hearings have to go forward, there's time each day before and after hearings that things could be done, and while there's other procedural bullshit that can be done (some of which they have done), there's literally nothing that can prevent the majority from rewriting the rules however they want to force a vote through.

Right now the thing that is pissing me off is any news source who says she made it out of committee unanimously when Dems did one of said procedural bullshits and didn't show up and Reps just had a vote anyway.

They could impeach Bill Barr for example, for all the shit he has been doing/behind.

The issue I guess is that the Democratic Party has been using the Supreme Court to drum up voter enthusiasm, “you must vote for Biden, if Trump got another SC nominee on the court during a second term the results would be apocalyptic” and then when it turns out he has a chance to put a third one on the court now they don’t try to move heaven and earth to prevent it.

In fact, the senior most member of the Judicial Committee thanks this absolute nightmare of a SC nominee for her answers and hugs the republican (who is struggling to keep a vital senate seat) chairing the committee.

And now Biden is saying he’ll put together a bipartisan group to think about changes to the SC for 18 months if he wins.

Which conveniently puts it right before midterms, so they can milk voters over the same issue again.

And then lose enough seats they can say they don’t have the numbers to push it through even if they wanted to.

My problem with that is that it portrays them as equally inept to me. Any democratic politician is risking their lives in the event of a continued radicalization of the country. A staggering amount of the country is convinced they are pedophile Satanists who want nothing less than to have the country enslaved to their will. If things go badly their heads will for sure be the heads on the pikes in front of the white house.

Thing is we some data on how this sort of thing takes over the country. They arn't acting much differently from the moderates in Germany before the Nazi's fully took power or any number of moderates I could name. They also arn't acting differently then the moderate citizens in general. I think a lot of people including those in power are going to spend a lot of time choosing to belief that what is clearly happening in this country isn't because believing that it is would be terrifying.

Well his whole theory is/was that there is periods of turbulence, followed by calm.

Whenever I see something like this posted on Twitter the usual response I see from lawyers is something like "get a lawyer, and congrats because you own this motherfucker now." Like when that one landlord was illegally checking if people got their stimulus checks. Also doubling rent in a single year is probably illegal in most places.

The "Alabama is different than New York" so they don't deserve a higher minimum wage argument is such bullshit but now more than ever. I don't know if elites like Trump know this but old man Bezos doesn't come out sweeping the floor asking about your aunt's blueberry pie and how your father's doing when you order something off Amazon in the "flyover" states. There's no friends and family discount and oddly enough working retail in the Midwest is exactly the same as working retail on the coasts. Perhaps we should be paying people the value of their labor.

The Dutchman alerted Trump and American government services to the security leak. After a few days, he was contacted by the American Secret Service in the Netherlands. This agency is also responsible for the security of the American President and took the report seriously, as evidenced by correspondence seen by de Volkskrant. Meanwhile Trump’s account has been made more secure.

The two greatest lies adam smith ever told and well one was before him

That the value of a product isn't determined by it's labour cost

And that humans would use barter economics as a stepping stone which has and never ever and/or will been proven and is still taken as a given, like all the antrohopology in the world has never found any trace of all barter based economic system it's wild we gonna ride this shit till it kills us all, cause it'll kill the exploiters slower

ICE seems to think there are going to be some managerial changes based on how they're going the extra mile to abuse detainees right now

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/22/us-ice-officers-allegedly-used-torture-to-make-africans-sign-own-deportation-orders

I suppose they believe they are going to have to at least pretend to care about process instead of being able to abandon the charade altogether (though they'll still commit plenty of abuses I'm sure)
